NHL 26’s early-access windows have ended. The EA Play 10-hour trial began September 5, 2025, and Deluxe Edition preorders offered up to seven days of early access. EA lists the standard release as September 12, 2025, at 4 PM UTC. These are past dates as of October 8, 2026, so buying the game now will not reopen early access.
When did NHL 26 early access start?
EA’s 10-hour EA Play trial started September 5, 2025. The separate Deluxe Edition preorder benefit was up to seven days of early access ahead of the September 12 launch. EA did not publish one exact Deluxe Edition unlock hour that applies to every region and platform, so “up to seven days” should not be treated as a confirmed local start time.

Did EA Play get NHL 26 early access?
Yes. EA Play members could use the 10-hour trial starting September 5, 2025. EA also announced member rewards and a 10% discount on EA digital content for that launch period. Those were historical offer terms, not a statement of current EA Play benefits. The trial has ended.
Which platforms and editions were listed?
EA listed NHL 26 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its product page documents a packaged Standard Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as a digital edition. A present-day copy is a purchase of the game; it does not restore the past preorder early-access benefit or EA Play trial.

Was there another NHL 26 free trial?
EA later listed a separate free-play weekend for PlayStation Plus subscribers on PlayStation and a corresponding Xbox trial. The offer ran from February 11, 2026, at 10 PM UTC to February 16, 2026, at 8 PM UTC, according to EA’s product and offer page. That event also ended, and it was separate from the September 2025 EA Play early-access trial.

EA described NHL 26 as using ICE-Q 2.0 powered by NHL EDGE data, with a revamped Be A Pro mode and HUT Seasons. In its August 2025 announcement, EA said real-world NHL EDGE positional data informed player attributes and tendencies. EA SPORTS Creative Director Mike Inglehart called it “the most true-to-life experience we’ve ever built”; that is EA’s promotional description, not an independent assessment.
