Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online officially launch in the Philippines on 10 November 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, Switch OLED and Nintendo Switch 2. Most payment failures have one root cause: the eShop country always follows the Nintendo Account’s country, while cards and prepaid codes are locked to that same region. The practical fixes are to match the account and card country, use a same-region Nintendo eShop card, retry during an outage, or complete Nintendo’s country-change requirements without assuming your balance or purchases will transfer.

When will Nintendo eShop Philippines and Nintendo Switch Online launch?

Nintendo announced on 26 October 2026 that both services are scheduled to begin in the Philippines on 10 November 2026. The announcement covers Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch family, including Switch Lite and Switch OLED.

Until launch, a Philippine address is not automatically a valid payment region for an account set to the United States, Japan, Hong Kong or another country. Nintendo has not yet published Philippine peso prices, a Philippines-specific migration FAQ or the complete list of launch-day payment rails.

Why is Nintendo eShop Philippines payment not working?

The usual reason is a country mismatch. Nintendo eShop for Switch 2 and Switch always matches the country/region of residence on the Nintendo Account; there is no independent country switch in the console eShop.

Nintendo’s documented warning is:

This credit card cannot be used as its issuing country is not among those compatible with this Nintendo eShop.

Nintendo further explains:

If a Nintendo eShop exists for your region, credit cards issued from your region will not work in a different region’s eShop. (For example, credit cards issued for the U.S. will only work in the Nintendo eShop for North America.)

That means a Philippine-issued card should be used with a Nintendo Account set to the Philippines once the Philippine store opens. A Philippine card is not a workaround for a US or Japanese eShop. Conversely, keeping a foreign account for its catalog means continuing to use a card or prepaid code issued for that foreign region.

Unable to use credit card Nintendo eShop PH: what should I check?

  1. Open the Nintendo Account country setting and note the country shown under User Information. The console eShop uses that value.
  2. Confirm that the card was issued in the same country. A Philippine billing address on a US-region account does not make a Philippine card compatible.
  3. Enter the cardholder name, billing address and postal code exactly as the issuer has them. Do not substitute a Philippine address for the address attached to a foreign card.
  4. If the details are correct but the charge still fails, ask the card issuer which country the card is intended for. Nintendo says it cannot provide the processor’s specific decline reason.

After 10 November, the straightforward route for a Philippine card is an account whose country is set to the Philippines, subject to Nintendo’s country-change restrictions below. Nintendo has not confirmed whether local wallets, carrier billing or particular Philippine banks will be available at launch.

What does “This credit card cannot be used as its issuing country is not among those compatible with this Nintendo eShop” mean?

It means the card’s issuing country and the Nintendo Account’s eShop country do not match. The message is not normally fixed by changing the console’s language, location or time zone.

  • US account: use a US-issued card or US-region Nintendo eShop prepaid card.
  • Japan account: use a Japan-issued card or Japan-region prepaid card.
  • Philippines account after launch: use a Philippine-issued card or a Philippine-region prepaid card, if Nintendo and retailers offer one.

If you want to keep a foreign account, do not add a Philippine bank card to it. If you want to pay with a Philippine card, plan around a Philippines account and the balance, subscription and pre-order rules that can block a country change.

How do I fix a generic “Unable to use credit card” error?

Nintendo says the generic message can result from a temporary service outage or unusually high user traffic, and it does not disclose the precise reason for an individual decline.

  1. Update the console: System Settings > System > System Update on Switch and Switch 2.
  2. Close eShop, reopen it from HOME and try the purchase again.
  3. Try the Nintendo Store on the web if the console transaction fails.
  4. Wait and retry later, or use a different same-region card or prepaid card.
  5. Check Nintendo’s Network Maintenance Information/Operational Status page at https://support.nintendo.com/networkstatus.
  6. If the problem persists, ask the card issuer to verify the billing data and regional authorization.

How do I fix Nintendo eShop error 2813-0119?

Error 2813-0119 is handled as a credit-card purchase that will not complete. Nintendo’s sequence is to retry first, then change the payment method while checking for a card-specific problem.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Close Nintendo eShop and relaunch it from HOME.
  2. Retry the purchase once.
  3. Try another credit or debit card issued for the eShop’s country.
  4. Add funds with a same-region Nintendo eShop card.
  5. Use PayPal only if Nintendo lists it for your account’s country; its current documented availability is limited to residents of the United States, Canada and Mexico who are at least 18.
  6. Wait and try again if Nintendo’s service is busy or undergoing maintenance.
  7. If one card repeatedly fails, contact the bank because Nintendo notes that the code can indicate an issue with that card.

To redeem a 16-character prepaid funds code on the console, open Nintendo eShop from HOME, choose the account, select Enter Code, enter the code, choose OK, confirm and select Add.

How do I fix Nintendo eShop error 2813-2470?

Error 2813-2470 tells you to contact the card issuer for more information. Remove stale payment data and verify the account region before trying another transaction.

  1. Go to https://accounts.nintendo.com/portal.
  2. Open Funds and Payment Methods > Change, delete the saved credit-card information and confirm.
  3. Check that the Nintendo Account country matches the card’s issuing country. Nintendo’s example is that a Mexico-issued card will not work with an account set to Argentina or Chile; the same rule applies to a Philippine card on a US account.
  4. Re-enter the name, billing address and security code exactly as supplied by the issuer.
  5. If it still fails, use a different same-region card or Nintendo eShop card. PayPal is an option only where Nintendo displays it.
  6. Ask the bank to confirm the billing information and whether the transaction is being blocked.

How to add funds to Nintendo eShop Philippines

Nintendo’s detailed add-funds instructions currently cover the United States, Canada and Mexico. The region-lock rules apply globally, but Nintendo has not published the Philippine peso balance cap or final Philippine payment menu.

Credit or debit card

Use a card issued in the same country as the Nintendo Account’s eShop. When funds are short at checkout, Switch 2 displays Continue and Switch displays Proceed to Purchase; choose the prompt, select the amount required and complete payment with an eligible card or another offered method.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Nintendo eShop prepaid card

Choose Enter Code, type the 16-character code, select Confirm and then Add. The on-screen keyboard disables letters that are not used in these codes, including O, I and Z, which helps prevent common transcription errors.

PayPal

Nintendo’s current support text documents PayPal for residents of the United States, Canada and Mexico who are 18 or older. It is not a confirmed Philippine launch option, so do not rely on it for a Philippine account until Nintendo lists it there.

Nintendo eShop card is not working Philippines: what can I do?

A Nintendo eShop card can fail because the account country does not match the card country, because characters were misread or because the retailer did not activate the card.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Check that the card was sold for the same country as the Nintendo Account. Nintendo states that cards purchased in a specific country can be redeemed only by accounts set to that country.
  • Re-read ambiguous characters, especially 5/G/S and 0/8.
  • If the number is damaged or illegible, keep the receipt and contact Nintendo support.
  • If the retailer never activated the card, return to that retailer with proof of purchase.

A US Nintendo eShop gift card is a valid Nintendo-documented alternative for a US account when a US card fails. It will not add funds to a Philippine account after the Philippine store opens.

Download code not working Switch PH: how do I redeem it?

A download code must come from the same country/region as the Nintendo Account. A Japan code works with a Japan account; a European code does not work with a North American account. The rule applies to retail receipts, bundle inserts and prepaid software cards.

Redeem on Switch or Switch 2

  1. Open Nintendo eShop from HOME.
  2. Select the user account.
  3. Choose Enter Code.
  4. Enter the code and confirm.

Redeem on the web

Use Nintendo’s redemption page: https://ec.nintendo.com/redeem/#/. Sign in to the intended Nintendo Account before submitting the code.

When a code appears invalid or used

  • Check the account’s previously downloaded titles and eShop purchase history. A code marked as used may already have added the software, allowing a redownload instead of a second purchase.
  • For error 2811-6058, wait and retry.
  • The message “This is a Nintendo Switch 2 download code” means the code is for Switch 2, not the original Switch.
  • Retail and bundle codes do not expire, while promotional and My Nintendo reward codes often do.
  • Codes for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U eShops can no longer be redeemed; that service ended on 27 March 2023.

Can’t change Nintendo Account country to Philippines: what blocks it?

Nintendo’s country-change flow is performed on the account website, not in the console eShop. A country change is blocked while the account or an associated child account has remaining eShop funds, active auto-renewals or outstanding pre-orders.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Documented country-change steps

  1. Sign in at https://accounts.nintendo.com/portal.
  2. Open User Information.
  3. Under Profile, select Edit.
  4. Choose Philippines in Country/region of residence when Nintendo makes it available.
  5. Save the change, read the warning and select I agree.

Clear every blocker first

  • Spend remaining balance: Nintendo states that the balance does not carry over. US-region accounts generally must spend the balance down to zero; Nintendo of America support is the escalation route if funds cannot be spent. Australia and New Zealand accounts may show a forfeiture confirmation instead, but that is not the normal assumption for Filipino workaround accounts.
  • Cancel auto-renewals: Nintendo Switch Online, Pokémon HOME Premium and in-game subscriptions can prevent the change.
  • Cancel pre-orders: An outstanding pre-order must be cancelled first.
  • Supervised accounts: An account under 18 cannot independently change country; the family-group administrator controls the relevant settings.

Use remaining funds on games, downloadable content, in-game content or Nintendo Switch Online time. Check the amount at Funds and Payment Methods on the account website before starting the change.

Should I change my existing account, keep a foreign account or create a Philippine account?

There is no single safe choice until Nintendo publishes Philippines-specific migration and library rules. The following distinctions are documented or explicitly identified as unresolved.

Path Philippine card after launch Digital library Foreign balance Status
Change the existing account to Philippines after clearing blockers Expected to work with a Philippine-issued card once the store exists The same Nintendo Account remains; Nintendo has not explicitly promised every title will remain playable in a Philippines-specific FAQ Does not carry over Country-change procedure is official; Philippine outcome is unpublished
Keep the US, Japan or Hong Kong account No, under Nintendo’s same-region card rule Yes, you remain on the account that owns the purchases Yes, until you change country Region-lock rules are official
Create a new Philippine account Yes, with a Philippine-issued card if offered No documented transfer from the old account No Account creation is official; library migration is unpublished

Do not create a new account expecting it to inherit a foreign account’s digital library. Nintendo has not announced a Philippines transfer tool, and a new account is a separate identity.

Will my US/Japan eShop still work after November 10?

Keeping a US, Japanese or Hong Kong Nintendo Account should preserve access to that account’s purchases and remaining balance, but it does not make Philippine-issued payment cards compatible. You will need payment issued for the foreign eShop, such as a same-region card or prepaid code.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you change that account to the Philippines, Nintendo says the balance will not carry over and the change may be blocked until the balance, auto-renewals and pre-orders are resolved. Nintendo has not stated whether all previously purchased digital titles will remain playable after a change into the new Philippine storefront, so do not assume either outcome.

Can’t download games Nintendo Switch Philippines: what should I check?

A Nintendo Account and an internet connection are required. After a successful purchase, the download normally starts automatically; already-owned software appears as a Virtual Game Card or Hidden Software and can be redownloaded rather than purchased again.

  1. Confirm that the purchase completed in the correct Nintendo Account’s purchase history.
  2. Install the latest system software through System Settings > System > System Update.
  3. Use a stable Wi-Fi connection and retry if the download stops.
  4. Check Nintendo’s network status page at https://support.nintendo.com/networkstatus.
  5. On HOME, select the game icon, open Download Options and choose Download this software first when several items are queued.
  6. If eShop search, Add Funds or code redemption is missing, verify the Nintendo Account country. Some software is sold only in particular countries.

Nintendo has not published a Philippines-specific failure rate for internet service providers, so claims that a particular percentage of local downloads fail should not be treated as official.

Can’t log in to Nintendo Account on Switch: how do I fix it?

eShop requires a Nintendo Account sign-in. You can use an email address and password, a sign-in ID and password, a passkey, a linked Google account or a linked Apple Account. A supervised account must use its own sign-in ID and password rather than the parent’s credentials.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Sign in with the QR code

  1. On the console’s sign-in screen, scan the displayed QR code with a phone.
  2. Sign in in the phone browser.
  3. Enter the five-digit confirmation code shown on the console.

The confirmation code is short-lived and cannot be brute-forced. If it is rejected, restart the sign-in flow and generate a new code. You can also choose Sign in with a password on the QR screen.

When email and password are rejected

The message “The email address/sign-in ID or password is incorrect” can appear when the account is configured for sign-in ID only. On the console, User Settings shows a partial email address and sign-in ID; the full values appear after you enter the password under Check Your Account Information.

For a reset, choose Forgot your password at https://accounts.nintendo.com/, submit the account email and open the temporary sign-in link. A new password must contain at least eight characters and use two of letters, numbers or punctuation; it cannot include the birthdate.

Verification, two-step verification and passkeys

  • Verification email can take up to 30 minutes. Check spam, allow [email protected] and do not block the @accounts.nintendo.com domain.
  • For two-step verification, use Google Authenticator, then backup codes, then SMS if a phone number is registered. Contact Nintendo support if none is available.
  • A passkey works on the device that registered it, or through a smart device when signing in on Switch. If you see “You can’t use a passkey to sign in from this device” or “Couldn’t complete passkey sign-in. Please use password sign-in instead,” select password sign-in.
  • For a child account, the family-group administrator can reveal the sign-in ID and reset the password.

Once a Nintendo Account is linked to a console user, Nintendo says that link cannot be undone. If the wrong account was linked, sign out and restart the linking flow rather than trying to create an unofficial unlink method.

What Philippine eShop details has Nintendo not published yet?

As of 29 October 2026, Nintendo has not confirmed Philippine game prices, taxes, Nintendo Switch Online SKU pricing, local payment channels, wallet support or whether regional pricing will differ from US or Japanese stores. TopGear Philippines has estimated roughly P1,250 per year for Standard Nintendo Switch Online and P2,750 for Expansion Pack, but those are journalistic estimates based on other regions, not Nintendo prices.

GamingPH reported that Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand received Nintendo digital services in November 2025, but that regional precedent does not establish Philippine pricing or account-transfer treatment. Do not treat claims about GCash, Maya, named banks, carrier billing or Tagalog/Cebuano storefront support as confirmed until Nintendo publishes them.

The safest preparation is to record your current account country, spend any foreign balance you are willing to use, cancel renewals or pre-orders if you plan to change country, and keep purchase records. Wait for Nintendo’s Philippines-specific instructions before assuming a new account can inherit a library or that PayPal will be available.

How should I choose a payment and account path?

  • Need to keep your existing digital library and foreign catalog: keep the current account and use payment issued for that region.
  • Want to pay with a Philippine card: use an existing account changed to the Philippines only after clearing all blockers, or create a separate Philippine account knowing that library transfer is not documented.
  • Card is declined during an outage: check network status, wait, retry and use a same-region Nintendo eShop card if available.
  • Code fails: verify country, activation, character transcription and whether the title is for Switch or Switch 2.
  • Login fails: identify whether the account uses an email or sign-in ID, then use the QR, password-reset, authenticator or family-admin route that matches the account type.

How we picked these fixes

The procedures above follow Nintendo’s documented country, payment, prepaid-code, download and account-recovery rules. Where Nintendo has not published a Philippines-specific answer, the article labels the uncertainty instead of treating a foreign-store rule, a press estimate or a rumored payment partnership as a launch promise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Nintendo eShop not available in the Philippines: can I use another country temporarily?

Yes, a Nintendo Account set to another supported country can continue using that country’s eShop, but its payment instruments and prepaid codes must match that region. Changing the account later can be blocked by funds, renewals or pre-orders, and Nintendo has not promised how every purchase will behave after a move to the Philippines.

Can I use a Philippine debit card on a US Nintendo Account after launch?

Nintendo’s region rule says no when an eShop exists for your region. Use a US-issued card or US prepaid code for the US account, or change/create a Philippines account if you want to use a Philippine-issued card.

How long do Nintendo Account verification emails take?

Nintendo says delivery can take up to 30 minutes. Check spam, allow [email protected] and ensure the entire @accounts.nintendo.com domain is not blocked before requesting another message.

Does Nintendo eShop balance convert to Philippine pesos when I change country?

No conversion is documented. Nintendo explicitly says the balance does not carry over, so US-region accounts should generally spend remaining funds before changing country.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can a parent change a supervised child account to the Philippines?

A supervised account under 18 cannot independently change its country. The family-group administrator controls the account, and the child must use its own sign-in credentials when accessing eShop.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
