A reported Elden Ring port for Nintendo’s next console was a rumor, not an announcement. ComicBook’s October 28, 2024 report attributed the claim to leaker Nash Weedle and said Virtuos was reportedly handling the port. The TechTimes article with the matching headline described a game leak but its available text did not name the game, so the identification comes from ComicBook’s separate reporting.
What the October 2024 reports actually said
ComicBook reported on October 28, 2024, that Nash Weedle had claimed Elden Ring was being ported for Nintendo’s then-unannounced next console. The report also said Virtuos was allegedly handling the work and that a release by the end of 2025 was possible. Those were attributed leak details, not confirmation from the companies involved. ComicBook’s report urged readers to treat the claim cautiously.

TechTimes published an article with the headline “Nintendo Switch 2 Game Leaks New Third-Party Title, Ahead of October Console Announcement Rumor” on October 28, 2024. The available text says a game leak preceded a rumored late-October console announcement, but does not identify the game. It should not be treated as independent evidence that the leaked title was Elden Ring. TechTimes’ article provides that headline-level framing.
Was the Switch 2 announcement date confirmed?
No. The October 28/29, 2024 reveal window was also speculation in the contemporaneous coverage, not an official Nintendo schedule. The console has since been established as a platform, but that later context does not retroactively verify the rumored timing or the Elden Ring port claim.

What was confirmed, and what was not
At the time of ComicBook’s report, Nintendo, FromSoftware, Bandai Namco, and Virtuos had not commented, according to that article. That describes the reporting situation in October 2024; it does not establish what any of those companies may have said since. The cited later Nintendo material confirms Switch 2 platform and software-lineup context, not this specific port.
Nintendo’s May 2026 investor materials list announced third-party Switch 2 titles and characterize the post-launch lineup as the largest following a platform launch. They report 48.71 million Switch 2 software units for the 12 months ended March 31, 2026, with separate bundle-accounting details, and more than 100 million annual playing users, a measure Nintendo defines as accounts that played Switch or Switch 2 software at least once during that 12-month period. These are platform-wide figures, not evidence about Elden Ring. Nintendo’s May 2026 investor materials do not confirm the rumored port.

Nintendo UK’s October 2026 games roundup lists current releases and says its listed dates were accurate when published. It likewise offers no confirmation of an Elden Ring Switch 2 edition. Nintendo UK’s October 2026 roundup is useful for current lineup context, not as proof of the old leak.

- The named game associated with the leak in contemporaneous reporting was Elden Ring, according to ComicBook’s account of Nash Weedle’s claim.
- Virtuos’ alleged involvement and a possible release by the end of 2025 were unconfirmed details of that same claim.
- The precise TechTimes article text available for its matching headline does not name a game, and neither it nor the cited later Nintendo sources establishes an official Switch 2 port.
There is no basis in these sources to treat an Elden Ring Switch 2 edition as announced or available. The story remains a historical rumor unless an official publisher or platform announcement establishes otherwise.
