Yes. Nintendo documents a dedicated wireless GameCube controller for Nintendo Switch 2, designed for the GameCube – Nintendo Classics collection. It is not a general-purpose replacement for every Switch 2 controller, and Nintendo says it does not work with the original Nintendo Switch. If you already own a GameCube controller, you can also connect it to Switch 2 with Nintendo’s GameCube Controller Adapter in TV mode.
What is the Switch 2 GameCube controller for?
Nintendo describes the wireless controller as modeled after the original GameCube controller and designed for the GameCube – Nintendo Classics collection. Will it work with regular Switch 2 games?
Do not count on it as a universal controller. Nintendo warns that other games may have issues because this controller lacks some of the buttons and features found on other controllers that work with Switch 2. Can you use an original GameCube controller on Switch 2?
Yes. Nintendo says previously released GameCube controllers can be used with Switch 2 through the Nintendo GameCube Controller Adapter. The documented setup is for TV mode: connect the adapter to a USB port on the Switch 2 dock. Nintendo’s compatibility information and support FAQ

Do you need Nintendo Switch Online to buy it?
Nintendo says a paid Nintendo Switch Online or Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership is required to purchase the new controller. A free trial does not qualify. The purchase requirement is distinct from access to the games: the GameCube – Nintendo Classics collection itself requires Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. - Choose the Switch 2-specific controller if you want the wireless, GameCube-style option Nintendo designed for its GameCube Classics collection and meet the membership and regional purchase requirements.
- Use the adapter route if you already have an original GameCube controller and want to connect it to Switch 2 in TV mode. This option requires the adapter and dock connection.
