Were the magnetic Joy-Cons and 8-inch screen leaks true?
In substance, yes. What began as pre-announcement reporting is now confirmed hardware information: Nintendo specifies a 7.9-inch LCD and magnetic Joy-Con 2 connectors. “8-inch screen” is a convenient rounding, not Nintendo’s exact measurement. Nintendo announced the system on April 2, 2025, with a June 5, 2025 release date (Nintendo’s release announcement).

Nintendo’s Switch 2 technical specifications list the display as a 7.9-inch LCD with a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080 in handheld and tabletop modes. The specification identifies an LCD, not an OLED display.
How do Joy-Con 2 controllers attach?
Joy-Con 2 controllers connect to the console with magnetic connectors. That changes the attachment method used by the original Nintendo Switch, whose controllers slide onto rails. The attachment detail establishes how the controllers connect; it does not, by itself, establish comparative durability or how securely they hold up under particular conditions.
How are Joy-Con 2 controllers charged?
Nintendo says Joy-Con 2 controllers can be charged by connecting them to the console or by using the separately sold Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip. The Charging Grip is an accessory, not part of the console’s stated screen or attachment specifications; check the product listing and included-items details for any bundle before buying.
