Its separate statement that tariff-related refunds helped fund a September sale does not establish that tariffs drove the console price increase.
What does the Nintendo Switch 2 cost now?
Nintendo of America’s announced U.S. MSRP for the standalone Switch 2 system is $499.99, effective September 1, 2026. That is $50 more than the $449.99 U.S. standalone-system MSRP Nintendo announced at launch in 2025. The $50 difference is calculated from those two prices.

Nintendo announced the revision on May 7, 2026, and said the new $499.99 U.S. standalone-system MSRP would take effect on September 1, 2026. The original $449.99 price was announced on April 2, 2025, ahead of launch.

The bundle and standalone console are different price bases: the $499.99 bundle figure was announced at launch in 2025 and should not be mistaken for a current bundle offer. Check the seller’s listing for present-day contents and pricing.

Nintendo’s May 7, 2026 price-revision notice said the change was “in response to various changes in market conditions, which are expected to extend over the medium to long term.” It did not identify tariffs as the specific or sole reason for raising the U.S. standalone-system MSRP.

Nintendo made a separate tariff-related statement in its September 10, 2026 announcement of a Customer Appreciation Sale. The company said tariff-related refunds made the promotion possible in part and that it absorbed most tariff-related costs. The sale ran from September 12 through September 26, 2026, and has ended.
Those statements describe different matters. Nintendo did not quantify the refunds or the tariff costs passed through to the console price. The available figures therefore do not establish how much, if anything, of the $50 MSRP increase was attributable to tariffs.
