What to know about the console that launched
- Display and storage: Nintendo lists a 7.9-inch display and 256 GB of internal storage. Added storage uses microSD Express cards; other microSD card types are not the specified expansion format.
- Switch game compatibility: Switch 2 can play compatible physical and digital Nintendo Switch games. Nintendo cautions that some games may not be supported or may not be fully compatible, so compatibility is not universal.
- Older controllers and peripherals: Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers and accessories such as the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller can connect wirelessly, subject to compatibility.
- GameChat: Nintendo described online voice chat and camera-enabled video chat, with an optional compatible USB camera for video. The initial open-access period ran through March 31, 2026; Nintendo said Nintendo Switch Online would be required afterward. That trial period has ended.
