The Nintendo Switch 2 is already out: Nintendo released it on June 5, 2025. That was earlier than the late-June target reported in March 2025 by Tom’s Guide, which attributed the prediction to YouTube leaker eXtas1s. The leaker also named games that were not all confirmed as launch-day releases. Here’s how the rumor compares with Nintendo’s later announcements and launch evidence.
What did the leaker predict?
In March 2025, Tom’s Guide reported that eXtas1s said the Switch 2 was “currently planned for release at the end of June [2025].” The bracketed year was Tom’s Guide’s clarification. The same report said the leaker expected an early-April reveal and had no exact release date. These were reported claims, not Nintendo announcements. Tom’s Guide’s report

When did the Switch 2 actually launch?
Nintendo released the console on June 5, 2025—not at the end of June. Nintendo’s August 2025 investor presentation later confirmed that the system launched that day. Which games did the rumor name?
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero
Tom’s Guide reported that eXtas1s expected Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero to be among Bandai Namco’s earliest Switch 2 games and possibly a launch title. That was a prediction; it should not be treated as confirmation that the game launched alongside the console. Tom’s Guide’s report

Elden Ring and Tekken 8
The report said eXtas1s claimed Elden Ring and Tekken 8 would come to Switch 2. It did not establish either as a launch-day game. A claim that a game is coming to a platform is not the same as a claim that it will be available on the console’s first day.
Which games did Nintendo confirm for launch day?
Nintendo’s official materials identify Mario Kart World and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour as titles that launched simultaneously with the system on June 5, 2025. Nintendo’s May launch schedule also listed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for that date. The confirmed launch-day evidence therefore points to Mario Kart World and Welcome Tour as simultaneous system launches; it does not validate every game mentioned in the earlier rumor as a launch title.

This comparison shows where the prediction differed from Nintendo’s eventual date and where the reported game claims were less specific than an official launch lineup. The sources cited here do not establish whether eXtas1s had reliable inside information on these particular claims, so their partial closeness on the release window is not evidence of general accuracy.

What is current context for Switch 2 owners?
Nintendo’s games catalogue lists releases through 2026 and says compatible physical and digital original Switch games can be played on Switch 2, while warning that some titles may not be supported or fully compatible.
