What happened at Nintendo’s launch events?
Nintendo’s June 5 account described a “first-ever simultaneous launch event” at its newly opened Nintendo San Francisco and Nintendo New York locations. What did Switch 2 cost at launch in the U.S.?
Nintendo of America’s June 2025 launch announcement listed a suggested retail price of $449.99 for the standalone system and $499.99 for a bundle containing the system and a digital copy of Mario Kart World. Those were U.S. launch prices, not current prices. Nintendo’s launch-day account.

Nintendo reported that Switch 2 sold more than 3.5 million units worldwide during its first four days. The company published that figure on June 11, 2025; it is Nintendo’s reported sales total, not an independently stated count. Nintendo’s sales release.
