Nintendo of Canada announced on June 30, 2025, that pricing for the original Nintendo Switch family and related products in Canada would change. The announcement did not list new prices or say how much any individual product would cost. It also explicitly excluded Nintendo Switch 2 systems, accessories, and software.
Which Nintendo products were included?
Nintendo’s June 30, 2025 announcement covered the original Switch family and related products in Canada:

Nintendo said pricing would change “based on market conditions.” It did not specify whether every listed item would increase, or provide an item-by-item comparison. Nintendo of Canada’s announcement said pricing information would be shared on August 1, 2025. [c001]
Was Nintendo Switch 2 included?
No. Nintendo explicitly excluded Nintendo Switch 2 systems, accessories, and software from the 2025 Canadian update. That exclusion applies to the products named in that announcement; it does not mean Switch 2 has no separate pricing policies.

How much did the prices change?
The June 30 announcement did not provide new prices, previous prices, or the size or direction of changes for individual products. It therefore cannot establish how much more a particular console, game, accessory, amiibo, or membership would cost. To calculate a change, compare dated Canadian listings for the same product and edition; do not infer a price increase or amount from the announcement alone.
Nintendo Canada’s product pages can show individual digital game prices, but a listing is a snapshot, not proof of an old-to-new change or its cause. For example, the site’s listed prices for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Stardew Valley are not a price history. Check Nintendo Canada’s store for current listings and compare them with a dated earlier listing if you need to establish a change. [c003]

How should you compare physical and digital game prices?
Keep the type of price clear. A manufacturer’s suggested price is not necessarily the price a retailer charges, and a digital store listing is not a complete record of past prices. For an accurate comparison, note the product, edition, format, seller, Canadian dollar amount, and date for each listing. Nintendo says retail partners set their own prices for physical and digital games, and prices may vary by title. [c002]

Nintendo Support describes a separate policy beginning in May 2026: new Nintendo-published digital titles exclusive to Switch 2 have an MSRP different from their physical versions, starting with preorders for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. Nintendo also says retail partners set their own prices and prices may vary by title. This policy concerns certain new Switch 2-exclusive games; it is not the 2025 price update for the original Switch family. Read Nintendo Support’s explanation of Switch 2 game pricing. [c002]
