No Man’s Sky update 5.56, released by Hello Games on February 13, 2025, is a Worlds Part II bug-fix patch. It addresses five issues: three affecting Expedition Seventeen: Titan, one involving packaged technology and the Colossus, and a crash for players running the PS4 version on PS5.
What No Man’s Sky update 5.56 fixes
Hello Games’ 5.56 patch notes list these five fixes:
- Pillar of Titan reward: Fixed an issue that could make the reward appear already claimed after a player completed the expedition and transferred back to their main save.
- Packaged technology in the Colossus: Fixed an issue that prevented packaged technology from being deployed into the Colossus.
- Floating Nautilon Chamber: Fixed a Titan mission-progression issue caused by building the floating variant of the Nautilon Chamber.
- Waterworld detection: Fixed an issue that could cause Titan missions to fail to detect waterworlds correctly.
- PS4 version on PS5: Fixed a crash affecting players running the PlayStation 4 version of No Man’s Sky on PlayStation 5.
What the Titan Expedition fixes mean for players
The Pillar of Titan reward appeared claimed
If the Pillar of Titan reward looked as though it had already been claimed after you returned to your main save, that is the reward-state problem addressed in 5.56. The notes describe the bug but do not say that every save already affected by it automatically recovered.
The floating Nautilon Chamber blocked mission progress
The patch addresses a progression issue where building the floating Nautilon Chamber variant would not allow Titan missions to advance. If the mission remains blocked after updating, check the current in-game objective and report the issue through Hello Games’ bug-report process linked from the patch post.

Titan missions did not recognize waterworlds
5.56 also fixes incorrect waterworld detection in Titan missions. The patch notes do not specify which individual objectives or saves were affected.
Why 5.56 also mentions the Colossus and PS5
The remaining fixes are separate from Titan mission progression. One restores the ability to deploy packaged technology into the Colossus. The other addresses a crash when playing the PS4 edition on a PS5; it is specifically about the PS4 version running on that console, not a general statement about all PS5 crashes.

Release date and platform availability
Hello Games dated the 5.56 post February 13, 2025, and said the patch was live on Steam, with other platforms to follow as soon as possible. The official release log lists version 5.56 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox Game Pass. The post does not give a platform-by-platform rollout schedule, so it does not establish that every version became available at the same time.
How update 5.56 fits into Expedition Seventeen: Titan
Hello Games announced Expedition Seventeen: Titan on February 12, 2025. It invited players to explore planets introduced in Worlds Part II. The Worlds Part II overview said Titan would begin after the Cursed redux, run for approximately six weeks, and offer The Wraith as a unique living-ship reward. Those details describe the original launch context; they do not establish that Titan is currently playable or available as a redux.

If a bug persists after installing 5.56
The notes identify the issues Hello Games fixed, but do not quantify how many players were affected or promise that previously affected saves will recover automatically. If the same problem continues, check the mission and save state in-game, then use the bug-report process referenced in the official patch post. Hello Games wrote, “We will continue to release patches as issues are identified and resolved.”
