Notorious Studios revealed Legacy: Steel & Sorcery at OTK Games Expo on June 4, 2024. Its original pitch was a third-person fantasy PvPvE game built around dangerous expeditions, loot and crafting back at a shared hub. The game later entered Early Access, became Eldegarde, and was taken offline indefinitely after March 31, 2026; it is not currently playable online.
What Notorious Studios announced at OTK Games Expo
GamesBeat reported on June 4, 2024, that OTK Media presented the game during its annual expo. The reveal introduced Notorious Studios’ debut title, then called Legacy: Steel & Sorcery. GamesBeat also reported that OTK Media was a minority investor in the studio at the time; that is historical context, not evidence of a current partnership or endorsement. GamesBeat’s reveal report
How the reveal-era game was meant to play
The original concept paired third-person fantasy combat with emergent encounters associated with extraction games and battle royales. Players would venture across a map, fight neutral monsters and other players, gather materials and complete quests, then return to a shared hub to craft and improve equipment. GamesBeat connected the design to CEO and co-founder Chris Kaleiki’s interest in the unstructured player-versus-player combat of World of Warcraft.
That pitch emphasized PvPvE: players faced both computer-controlled threats and one another during an expedition. It was not presented simply as a conventional, story-led fantasy RPG, nor as a persistent MMO. The shared hub supplied a social and gear-progression layer between excursions.

How the game changed by version 1.0
The later Eldegarde announcement presented a broader set of ways to play than the reveal’s focus on PvPvE expeditions. The studio described PvE content, PvP Arenas, a social hub and PvE dungeons, framing the game as a mini-MMO. Those are details from the studio’s January 2026 launch announcement; they should not be read as a claim that every mode was part of the original 2024 reveal.

No. On March 4, 2026, Notorious Studios said it would remove Eldegarde from sale and take it offline indefinitely after March 31, 2026. Founder and CEO Chris Kaleiki wrote: “After a year on Steam through Early Access and into its recent 1.0 release, I’m saddened to share that we have decided to sunset Eldegarde, taking the game offline indefinitely.” The studio’s Steam announcement

The studio said the game had not gained enough traction to sustain it financially, but did not provide a specific sales, player-count or revenue figure. It also said a small group hoped to explore an offline conversion or client-side server. That possibility was not a commitment, so there is no announced offline version to rely on.
The studio website has continued to display conflicting Pre-Alpha and Early Access labels and an invitation to join playtests. Those pages are stale and do not override the dated Steam shutdown announcement. Notorious Studios’ website
