NVIDIA describes 580.88 as Game Ready for Mafia: The Old Country. In practical terms, that means a driver profile and launch-focused compatibility work for the game; it does not add the game to your PC, guarantee a frame-rate increase, or make unsupported hardware capable of every graphics feature.

- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)

- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
NVIDIA’s announcement highlights Mafia: The Old Country support for DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Frame Generation, DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, and NVIDIA Reflex. Feature availability depends on the game version, selected settings, and GPU generation. Multi Frame Generation should not be treated as an option available to every GeForce RTX card; NVIDIA’s launch messaging associates it with GeForce RTX 50-series hardware.
The release also supports the update for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 that adds DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, Frame Generation, Super Resolution, and Reflex. NVIDIA additionally validated 62 new G-SYNC Compatible displays. These are support and compatibility claims, not independent benchmark results or a promise of universal performance gains. See NVIDIA’s release announcement for the feature details.

NVIDIA announced that Game Ready Driver support for all GeForce RTX GPUs on Windows 10 would continue through October 2026. This is a GPU-driver extension, not an extension of Microsoft’s Windows 10 support lifecycle. It does not guarantee that Windows 10 will continue receiving operating-system security fixes, that every application will support it, or that new games and anti-cheat systems will work indefinitely.

That policy is separate from NVIDIA’s roadmap for older architectures:
- GeForce RTX on Windows 10: Game Ready support announced through October 2026.
- Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta GeForce GPUs: NVIDIA announced a final Game Ready release in October 2025, followed by quarterly security updates through October 2028.
- Older desktop Kepler GPUs: The 580.88 page notes that critical security updates had been available through September 2024. 580.88 does not restore ordinary Game Ready support for Kepler.
The 580.88 supported-products list includes RTX, GTX 16-series, GTX 10-series, GTX 900-series, GTX 700-series, and various notebook products. That confirms compatibility with this particular release; it should not be confused with NVIDIA’s later support roadmap.
Who can install 580.88?
The consumer package is for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. The driver page does not indicate support for 32-bit Windows. Notebook owners should first check their laptop manufacturer’s certified driver. A generic NVIDIA package may install correctly but be less suitable for Optimus switching, hotkeys, power management, display output, or firmware integration.

Should you install GeForce 580.88 today?
Use 580.88 if you specifically need its Mafia: The Old Country launch profile, are affected by one of its documented fixes, need to reproduce a July–August 2025 configuration, or are testing a rollback or archival setup.
Prefer a newer driver if you are making a normal installation in 2026, want later security fixes and game profiles, use a GPU released after the 580 branch, or are troubleshooting a newer game or Windows build. NVIDIA’s current driver-selection page lists GeForce 610.88 dated July 28, 2026.
There is no evidence in NVIDIA’s primary release material that 580.88 guarantees a particular FPS improvement in Mafia: The Old Country. A Game Ready release can improve compatibility or address title-specific problems, but real-world results still depend on the GPU, CPU, settings, game patch, and system configuration.
How to install or recover from problems
- Open the NVIDIA App or NVIDIA’s official GeForce driver page.
- Select the GPU and Windows version, then verify the package number if you specifically need 580.88.
- Run the installer and choose Express installation for a normal update.
- Choose Custom installation when you need component control or the clean-install option offered by the installer.
- Restart if requested, then verify the version in the NVIDIA App, NVIDIA Control Panel, or Device Manager.
Before changing drivers, record the currently installed version and consider creating a restore point. If installation fails, reboot and retry after closing games, overlays, monitoring software, VPN or display utilities, and GPU-tuning tools. Use the installer’s clean-install option where available. If the problem started after updating, roll back through Device Manager or reinstall the last stable driver.

For laptops, try the manufacturer’s package. If a game-specific regression is suspected, compare with a later WHQL release before deciding that 580.88 is the best version. A clean installation removes configuration variables, but it cannot fix unrelated hardware, Windows, firmware, or game faults.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does GeForce 580.88 include Mafia: The Old Country?
No. It provides a driver profile and launch-focused support for the game; the game must be purchased and installed separately.
Does every RTX GPU support DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation?
No. DLSS features vary by GPU generation, game implementation, patch, and settings. Multi Frame Generation should not be assumed to work on every RTX card.
Does NVIDIA support Windows 10 indefinitely with this driver?
No. NVIDIA announced GeForce RTX Game Ready support on Windows 10 through October 2026. That does not extend Microsoft’s Windows 10 support lifecycle.
Are Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta still receiving Game Ready updates?
NVIDIA announced a final Game Ready release for those architectures in October 2025, followed by quarterly security updates through October 2028.
What should I do if 580.88 causes worse performance?
Record the symptoms, reinstall the previous stable driver or use Device Manager rollback, and compare with a later WHQL release. Driver changes can fix one title while creating a regression elsewhere.
