  • Yellow — EMULATE: COPY, ECHO, MIRROR, PARROT
  • Blue — MANIA: BUG, CRAZE, FAD, FEVER
  • Green — SPORTS: CRICKET, GOLF, POLO, SQUASH
  • Purple — SINGLE ANIMAL IN A CREATIVELY SPELLED BAND NAME: BEETLE, BIRD, GORILLA, MONKEY

Why the purple group is tricky

The purple category points to animal words in band names, with altered spellings: BEETLE evokes The Beatles, BIRD points to The Byrds, GORILLA to Gorillaz, and MONKEY to The Monkees. The words can also suggest other categories or associations, so the intended link is the band-name reference rather than the animal itself.

  • MANIA: BUG, CRAZE, FAD, and FEVER can each describe a popular enthusiasm or obsession.
  • SPORTS: CRICKET, GOLF, POLO, and SQUASH are all sports.
