TechRadar identifies the Saturday, August 30, 2025, NYT Connections puzzle as game #811. Here are graduated clues first, followed by the category names and, after a spoiler warning, the four word groups.

Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four. Because a new puzzle appears at midnight in each time zone, the same game may fall on different local calendar dates. The date and puzzle number here follow TechRadar’s identification.

Group Words
Yellow EMO, FUNK, METAL, POP
Green BITE, BLOW, STINK, SUCK
Blue EAT, ROCK, RULE, SLAY
Purple CAGE, ENO, GLASS, REICH

Why the board can mislead

The puzzle’s overlap is largely in the words’ possible associations. ROCK can fit the music-genre idea, but in this board it belongs with EAT, RULE, and SLAY as a way to describe doing exceptionally well. TechRadar’s writer also described initially pairing STINK and FUNK as smell-related words before pursuing the music connection and placing ROCK in the wrong set.
