Spoiler-safe hints for Connections #550
These clues point toward each group without giving away its category name or answers. The wording is from TechRadar’s December 12 guide.
- Yellow: “The A-Team’s ‘Mr’”
- Green: “They’re not all for eating”
- Blue: “How rude!”
- Purple: “Watercourse elements”
For a little more direction without the answers, Parade’s clues point to words that sound like a letter, items with notched edges, mild expressions of frustration, and features of a flowing body of water.

#1 Best Overall
- Yellow — Things That Sound Like “T”: TEA, TEE (GOLF), TEE (SHIRT), TI (MUSICAL NOTE)
- Green — Objects With Teeth: COMB, GEAR, SAW, ZIPPER
- Blue — Mild Oaths: FUDGE, GEEZ, NUTS, RATS
- Purple — Parts of a River: BANK, BED, DELTA, MOUTH
Why the river group can be easy to miss
BANK, BED, DELTA, and MOUTH fit when read as geographic features of a river. Their familiar everyday meanings can make the connection less obvious, so scan the full board before settling on a group that seems plausible from only a few words. That is a solving suggestion based on this answer set, not an official NYT hint.

Connections asks players to sort 16 entries into four groups of four. TechRadar and Try Hard Guides describe color-coded difficulty tiers and allow up to four mistakes; TechRadar also notes that a remaining group may be identified by elimination. Those mechanics are described by the guides, rather than verified against an official NYT rules page here. TechRadar says the game is playable through NYT Games on desktop or mobile, but current access was not independently confirmed.
