How the June 22 puzzle is structured
Connections presents 16 words. The aim is to sort them into four groups of four that share a theme. The New York Times says the groups are color-coded by difficulty, with yellow the easiest and purple the trickiest; some words may appear to fit more than one possible theme. The daily game is free to play and releases at midnight in each player’s timezone, so a guide published on June 21 can cover the June 22 local puzzle.

Why the overlaps can mislead
Keep LIFE and WIRE out of the HBO group
LIFE and WIRE can look like television-related clues, but they belong elsewhere: LIFE joins LIBERTY, PURSUIT, and HAPPINESS in the Declaration-related group, while the HBO set includes INSECURE.
Read “left” in four different ways
DEPARTED and REMAINING point to what has left or what is left. PORT is the left side of a ship, and PROGRESSIVE can describe the political left.
