How to approach the Hard board
Pips is a domino-style logic puzzle: place dominoes across a grid while satisfying the mathematical condition attached to each colored region. A useful general approach is to begin with the region that allows the fewest possibilities. If a domino half is forced or tightly constrained there, its other half must also fit somewhere, which can reduce the options in a neighboring region.

Why there is no placement-by-placement walkthrough
The available NYT Game Solver page provides the level layout and answer identifier, but not a complete step-by-step solution that can be independently checked for every placement. The NYT page itself was inaccessible. For that reason, #1246 is reported with attribution, while an exact placement sequence is omitted rather than guessed.
