  4. The spangram is an idiom that can mean something trivial or unimportant, but it also describes the puzzle’s recipients.

Why the theme is “A bit peckish?”

“Peckish” means slightly hungry, and “peck” brings birds to mind. Each answer names food associated with birds, including items that might be put out in a backyard feeder. The pun links the clue’s suggestion of hunger to the spangram’s literal bird-related meaning.

Why “today’s puzzle” can vary by location

TechRadar identifies this as game #756 and notes that a new Strands puzzle appears at midnight in each time zone. Because of that release schedule, “today’s” puzzle can refer to different dates depending on where you are. Strands asks players to find theme words on the board; the spangram describes the theme and touches two opposite sides. Parade’s rules summary says every three non-theme words found earn an in-game hint.
