It helps to decide what you miss most about Ocarina before choosing. If the answer is its era and classic Zelda context, start with Majora’s Mask. If it is solving dungeon puzzles and gaining items that open more of the adventure, consider Skyward Sword HD. Why choose Skyward Sword HD?
Nintendo describes an adventure through perilous dungeons packed with puzzles, with acquired items helping Link explore further. That freedom changes how to think about progress. Instead of choosing it primarily for a sequence of traditional 3D dungeons, choose it if the appeal is deciding where to go and what to investigate. Nintendo’s Breath of the Wild listing describes the exploration focus. The game has a Switch listing as well as a Switch 2 edition.
Should I play Tears of the Kingdom instead?
If you have played neither, start with Breath of the Wild unless the newer construction systems are specifically what you want. Which top-down Zelda should I play?

What is unusual about Echoes of Wisdom?
Echoes of Wisdom puts Zelda in the lead and centers its problem-solving on the Tri Rod. Nintendo says Zelda can create echoes of objects and creatures in the world, then use them to solve puzzles and fight. That makes it a good choice for a player who wants Zelda’s world and puzzle-solving but is interested in improvisation rather than an Ocarina-style sequence.
Nintendo has also documented a free visual-enhancement update for Switch 2. That update is not a separate Switch 2 edition. The Echoes of Wisdom listing is the relevant game page; check Nintendo’s current platform details for the update’s availability.
What if I want a non-Zelda game with secrets?
Try TUNIC if the best part of Zelda for you is uncovering a connected world and working out its secrets, but you are willing to trade the familiar 3D Zelda perspective for an isometric action game. Cadence of Hyrule is a more specialized option if you are happy to change play style as well as perspective. Its Zelda setting is paired with rhythm-timed action and a randomly generated overworld and dungeons. That makes it an optional detour for players open to rhythm mechanics, not the main recommendation for someone seeking another 3D Ocarina-like adventure.
