Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Odd Town is a low-spec Windows game. The Steam listing requires a 2.4 GHz dual-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, Version 9.0c graphics support and 1 GB of free storage, with Windows 7 or later. Epic’s listing raises the operating-system requirement to Windows 10 and names a GeForce 6600 GT with DirectX 9. On Steam Deck, the game is marked Playable, not Verified: it runs successfully with the default graphics and controls, but small text and occasional manual controller switching are caveats.
Odd Town minimum requirements at a glance
The following specifications are the published minimums shown by the two PC storefronts in 2026. Steam is the primary purchase reference for this article; Epic’s listing uses different wording for the operating system and graphics requirement.

| Requirement | Steam listing | Epic Games Store listing |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 7 or later | Windows 10 |
| Processor | 2.4 GHz dual-core processor or better | 2.4 GHz dual-core processor or better |
| Memory | 2 GB RAM | 2 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Version 9.0c graphics support | GeForce 6600 GT |
| DirectX | Not separately named | Version 9 |
| Storage | 1 GB available space | 1 GB available space |
The shared figures are deliberately modest: 2 GB of RAM, a 2.4 GHz dual-core CPU and 1 GB of available storage. These are minimum requirements, not a promise of a particular frame rate or resolution. Neither storefront publishes an official recommended specification, so there is no documented “ideal” CPU, GPU or memory target to use for a higher-quality comparison.

Can your old PC run Odd Town?
If your computer runs a supported version of Windows and meets the processor, memory, graphics and storage figures above, it meets the published minimum for the storefront where you plan to buy the game. A machine that only satisfies the CPU and RAM figures can still fail if its graphics hardware does not provide the required DirectX 9 or Version 9.0c capability, or if the drive has less than 1 GB free.

Processor check
Odd Town lists a 2.4 GHz dual-core processor or better. This describes the minimum class of CPU, not a requirement for exactly two cores in a modern system. Most contemporary desktop and laptop processors exceed it, while very old single-core systems do not. Check your processor model and clock in Windows’ System Information or Task Manager before relying on the specification.
Memory check
The game lists 2 GB RAM on both Steam and Epic. That is the game’s published minimum, and Windows itself also needs memory, so closing browsers, launchers and other background applications can reduce contention on a machine with only a small amount of RAM. The listings do not provide a separate recommended-memory figure.
Graphics and DirectX check
Steam describes the graphics requirement as Version 9.0c. Epic is more specific, naming a GeForce 6600 GT and DirectX 9. Those descriptions are not identical: one states an API/version capability, while the other gives a historical GPU example plus the API. Treat the GeForce 6600 GT wording as Epic’s listed minimum for that storefront rather than as proof that every newer card must match that model number. On integrated graphics, verify that the driver exposes the required DirectX 9-era functionality.

Storage check
Keep at least 1 GB of free space on the installation drive. This is the published available-space requirement for both stores. Leaving additional room for the launcher, save data and updates is sensible, but no larger installation or update allowance is specified in the listings.
Does Odd Town need Windows 10?
There is a storefront discrepancy. Steam says Windows 7 or later, while Epic says Windows 10. Therefore, the answer depends on where you purchase the game: the Steam requirement explicitly includes Windows 7, 8 and later versions, whereas the Epic listing documents Windows 10 as its minimum.
If you are choosing a storefront for an older PC, use the requirement displayed on that storefront and keep the launcher’s own operating-system support in mind. A Windows 7 installation may satisfy Steam’s published game requirement but may have separate limitations involving current launcher software, drivers or security updates. The available listings do not establish that Epic supports Windows 7, and they do not provide a reason for the difference.

Steam versus Epic: which specification should you follow?
Use the page for the edition you intend to install. The developer and publisher are the same on both listings—The Flying Baguette and Hyperstrange—and both identify Windows as the platform, but the minimum wording differs.
| Decision point | Steam edition | Epic edition |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum Windows version shown | Windows 7 or later | Windows 10 |
| Graphics wording | Version 9.0c | GeForce 6600 GT; DirectX 9 |
| CPU | 2.4 GHz dual-core or better | 2.4 GHz dual-core or better |
| RAM | 2 GB | 2 GB |
| Storage | 1 GB | 1 GB |
The Steam page is the clearest reference when buying through Steam, especially if Windows 7 compatibility matters. Epic buyers should plan around Windows 10 and the GeForce 6600 GT/DirectX 9 wording shown in Epic’s own listing.
Is Odd Town Steam Deck Verified or Playable?
Steam marks Odd Town Playable. That is below Verified in Valve’s compatibility system. Valve defines Verified as a game that “works great on Steam Deck, right out of the box.” Playable means the game functions on Deck but may require manual work from the user.

For Odd Town specifically, the SteamDB compatibility record reports that SteamOS runs successfully, the default graphics configuration performs well, and every function is accessible with the default controller configuration. Controller icons are shown. The same record recommends Proton Stable and records a compatibility test on October 9, 2026, using build ID 25735524.
What to expect when playing Odd Town on Steam Deck
Performance and graphics
The tested default graphics configuration is reported to perform well. That statement comes from the compatibility record; it is not a published frame-rate guarantee, resolution target or battery-life estimate. Start with the default settings rather than changing advanced options before confirming that your own Deck and game build behave as expected.
Controls and input
The default controller layout exposes all functionality, so a separate community layout is not required for normal play according to the record. If you connect an external Bluetooth or USB controller, however, SteamDB notes that you may need to switch the active controller manually through the Deck’s Quick Access Menu. This is the principal hardware-related caveat identified for Deck play; a dock, case or replacement controller is not listed as a requirement.

Text legibility
Some in-game text may be small and difficult to read on the Deck’s built-in display. This does not mean that menus are inaccessible, but it can make reading instructions or interface labels less comfortable. Increasing the game’s own UI scale, if an option exists in your installed build, or using the Deck’s display and magnification accessibility controls may help; the compatibility record does not promise that a specific text-size setting is available.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to install and configure Odd Town on Steam Deck
- Purchase and install the Steam edition from your Library.
- Open the game’s Properties page and use the compatibility tools area if Steam asks you to choose a runtime. The compatibility record recommends Proton Stable.
- Launch with the default graphics settings first. The tested default configuration is reported to perform well.
- Use the built-in controls initially; the default controller configuration is reported to expose all functionality.
- If you attach a Bluetooth or USB controller and inputs go to the wrong device, open the Quick Access Menu and manually switch the active controller.
- Check text at your normal handheld viewing distance. If labels are hard to read, adjust any available in-game UI setting or use Deck accessibility features.
Valve’s general Playable guidance allows for manual steps such as selecting a controller layout, opening the on-screen keyboard or using the touchscreen in a launcher. Odd Town’s specific record does not report a launcher or keyboard requirement, but those are examples of the kind of intervention that separates Playable from Verified.
Common compatibility problems and practical fixes
The game will not launch on an old Windows PC
- Confirm that the operating system matches the storefront requirement: Steam documents Windows 7 or later; Epic documents Windows 10.
- Confirm that the graphics driver exposes DirectX 9/Version 9.0c capability, not merely that the computer has a display output.
- Free at least 1 GB on the installation drive and close other programs on systems with only 2 GB of RAM.
- Use the launcher’s file-verification or repair function if the installation is incomplete; the published listings do not identify a game-specific repair procedure.
Deck controls do not respond after connecting another controller
Open the Quick Access Menu and switch the active controller manually. External Bluetooth and USB devices are the one input scenario specifically called out in the compatibility record.

Some text is reported to be small on Deck. Try the game’s available UI options and Deck accessibility tools, or play on a larger external display if your setup supports it. This is a readability caveat, not a report that the game fails to run.
Release and platform details
Steam lists Odd Town as an Action, Adventure and Indie title developed by The Flying Baguette and published by Hyperstrange, with a release date of October 15, 2026. Epic likewise lists The Flying Baguette as developer, Hyperstrange as publisher and Windows as the platform. These details identify the same PC game across both stores; they do not add a separate recommended hardware tier.
Bottom line for PC and Deck buyers
Odd Town should be approachable for very old or low-spec PCs that meet the published baseline: a 2.4 GHz dual-core CPU, 2 GB RAM, Version 9.0c/DirectX 9-class graphics and 1 GB free storage. Check the operating-system wording for your chosen store, because Steam says Windows 7 or later while Epic says Windows 10. On Steam Deck, choose Proton Stable if needed and expect a functional experience under the Playable badge, with small text and possible manual controller switching rather than a fully Verified, zero-adjustment setup.
