OhSnap was reported in January 2026 to be developing two thinner versions of its MCON phone gamepad: MCON Lite and MCON Slim. The reported designs use different controls and drop the original’s spring-loaded deployment, but neither model’s current availability, final dimensions, price, or release date is confirmed by the sources cited here.
What OhSnap reportedly planned
The January 6, 2026 report from The Verge described the Slim and Lite as responses to complaints that the original MCON was too thick and could obstruct a phone camera while attached. The coverage characterized the new designs as thinner and less expensive, but did not provide verified final measurements.
Engadget’s CES coverage also described the two as slimmer prototypes. These reports concern designs and plans at the time; they do not establish that either controller has since reached retail.
How the reported controls differ
| Model | Reported controls | Spring-loaded deployment | Confirmed final specifications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Original MCON | Physical TMR joysticks and Hall-effect triggers, according to OhSnap’s product page | Deployable grips are listed by OhSnap | Original model only; not a specification for Slim or Lite |
| MCON Lite | 3DS-style concave Circle Pads, as reported by The Verge and Engadget | Reportedly omitted | Final dimensions, price, availability, and compatibility are not confirmed |
| MCON Slim | Concave touch surfaces or touchpads, as reported by The Verge and Engadget | Reportedly omitted | Final dimensions, price, availability, and compatibility are not confirmed |
The Lite’s reported Circle Pads and the Slim’s touchpads are distinct from the original’s full joysticks. The reports do not establish how the finished controls will feel or perform, so prototype descriptions should not be treated as final product specifications.

Price and release timing remain estimates
The Verge’s January 6 report put the approximate prices at $60 for Lite and $100 for Slim, and described September as a tentative target. Engadget gave a broader seasonal outlook: summer for Lite and fall for Slim. These were dated expectations, not confirmed retail prices or launch dates, and the different schedules should not be combined into a firm release window.
As of October 8, 2026, the official OhSnap MCON product page documents the original controller rather than confirming Slim or Lite sales. It therefore does not establish whether either new model is available now.

What the original MCON page confirms
OhSnap describes the original MCON as a magnetic phone controller and says it includes an adapter for devices without MagSafe. Its listed features include TMR joysticks, Hall-effect triggers, deployable grips, and a Kickback tabletop mode. The page gives original-MCON dimensions of 144.1 × 69.4 × 24.1 mm, a weight of 197 g, and continuous battery life of up to nine hours. Those figures apply only to the original MCON; no comparable verified Slim or Lite measurements are provided.
The same page lists a travel sleeve, dock, and Key Cast among original-MCON bundle or accessory options. It does not confirm that those accessories will fit either new model.

What is still unknown
- Whether MCON Slim or Lite has launched or is currently available for purchase.
- Final dimensions, including how much thinner either model is than the original.
- Confirmed retail prices and launch dates.
- Final phone compatibility and whether existing MCON accessories will fit.
Until OhSnap publishes model-specific specifications or listings, the reliable distinction is limited to the reported prototype direction: a thinner design, Circle Pads on Lite, touchpads on Slim, and no spring-loaded deployment on either.
