okipage.dll is an old OKIPAGE printer-driver component, so the safest fix is to repair or reinstall the associated OKI printer rather than download a loose DLL. If Windows says okipage.dll is missing, cannot be loaded, or is incompatible, work through the printer and driver checks below before trying general Windows repairs.
What this file actually does
okipage.dll is identified as OKIPAGE Printer Driver. It belongs to a printer driver package associated with OKI, also known as Okidata, printers.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
It is not a Visual C++ runtime, DirectX component, .NET file, or general-purpose Windows library. A printer installation, the Print Spooler, printer enumeration, or an application that initializes Windows printing can cause the file to load. A program may display the error even when the underlying problem is a damaged printer registration or incomplete driver package.
Microsoft Update Catalog records an OKIPAGE 14ex printer driver supplied by Microsoft for an Okidata printer. That catalog entry reports version 6.1.7233.0, dated June 21, 2006, and marked for IA64 architecture. This confirms that the driver exists, but it does not prove that every okipage.dll copy has that version, date, size, or architecture.

Causes matched to the symptom
| What you notice | Most likely explanation | Best first action |
|---|---|---|
| The error appears while printing | The OKI driver package is missing, damaged, or mismatched | Remove and reinstall the printer |
| The error appears when Windows starts or the Print Spooler starts | A printer registration or spooler dependency is broken | Reinstall the printer, then restart the Print Spooler |
| The printer disappeared from Settings | Windows lost the printer registration or device connection | Add the printer again |
| The error started after Windows Update | A driver replacement or compatibility change may have occurred | Check optional driver updates and reinstall the exact model |
| Antivirus reports or quarantines the file | The file may have been deleted or may be an impersonating DLL | Inspect Protection history and the original file path |
| The error appears in an unrelated application | The application may contain a stale printer dependency | Identify the application and test whether other programs print |
| Several OKI drivers are installed | Windows may be loading the wrong model or architecture | Remove obsolete packages and install the exact model |
| The problem affects only one user | The printer registration may be damaged only in that profile | Test another Windows user before repairing system files |
| The printer is very old | A current Windows 10 or Windows 11 driver may not exist | Check Windows Update and Microsoft’s compatible driver catalog |
Fix 1: Remove and reinstall the OKI printer
This is the most likely solution because it restores the complete driver package and its printer registration together.
Before removing anything, find the exact printer model from the label on the printer or from its existing Windows entry. Do not select a similar-looking OKIPAGE model during reinstallation.
Recommended Free Tools
Remove the existing printer
- Select Start.
- Open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the OKI or OKIPAGE printer.
- Select Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
- Turn the printer off or disconnect its USB cable.
- Restart Windows.
Restarting matters because it clears some pending spooler and driver operations. After Windows starts, reconnect the printer or turn it on.
Add the printer again
- Open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device.
- Wait while Windows searches for the printer.
- Select the printer when it appears.
- Allow Windows to download and install the recommended driver.
- Open the printer entry after installation.
- Select Print a test page.
If the test page prints correctly and the original application opens without the error, the repair is complete.
If Windows cannot discover the printer, select Add manually. For a local printer, select the existing port, choose Windows Update in the driver selection window, and then select the exact manufacturer and model. If Windows offers several drivers, record the current printer settings first. Microsoft generally recommends replacing the current driver when the existing one is damaged, unless you know that the current driver is the correct one.
The Windows printer-driver workflow is described in Microsoft’s printer-driver installation guidance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver installation is the tedious part when several old packages are present and their model or architecture is unclear. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and show what needs attention, while the actual repair or driver installation requires the full version; it is optional, and Windows Update or the printer manufacturer remains the preferred source for this specific legacy driver.
Fix 2: Check Windows Update for the exact driver
Windows Update is the preferred first source for printer drivers on supported Windows versions.
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Open Advanced options.
- Select Optional updates.
- Expand Driver updates, if that category is present.
- Install a driver that matches the exact OKI printer model.
- Restart Windows.
- Return to Printers & scanners and print a test page.
Do not install a driver merely because it contains the word OKIPAGE. Confirm the model and the Windows architecture first.

Microsoft Update Catalog contains an entry for the OKIPAGE 14ex driver, but its listed IA64 architecture is not the same as ordinary x64. IA64 was used for a different class of Itanium systems. Do not assume that an IA64 package works on an x86, x64, or ARM64 computer.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
To check your architecture:
- Open Start > Settings > System > About.
- Find System type.
- Note whether Windows reports x86, x64-based, or ARM64-based Windows.
- Compare that information with the driver offered for the printer.
The catalog entry can establish the identity of an old driver package, but it does not establish that the package is suitable for your current PC. If Windows Update does not offer a compatible driver, check the exact model on the official OKI support portal. Current support pages may no longer list obsolete OKIPAGE hardware.
Fix 3: Remove stale printer entries and old driver packages
Reinstalling a printer may leave behind an older driver package, particularly when multiple models or architectures have been installed over time.
First remove duplicate printer entries:
- Open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Remove duplicate or unused OKI entries.
- Restart Windows.
- Add only the printer you currently use.
You can inspect installed printer drivers through the classic print-server properties window:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
printui.exe /s /t2. - Press Enter.
- Select the Drivers tab.
- Look for old OKI or OKIPAGE entries.
- Select a driver only when you are sure it is no longer used.
- Select Remove.
- Choose Remove driver and driver package, if Windows offers that option.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the printer through Printers & scanners.
If Windows says the driver is in use, cancel the removal and first delete printers that use it. Removing an active package can affect other printers.
The Driver Store is normally under a path such as:
%windir%System32DriverStoreFileRepository
Do not manually delete or replace files there. Microsoft describes the Driver Store as a protected collection of complete, trusted driver packages, and direct modification is unsupported. Let Windows remove and stage packages through its printer and driver-management tools.
Fix 4: Repair corrupted Windows components
Use this fix when the driver installation fails repeatedly, other Windows files are also reporting corruption, or the issue began after an interrupted update or disk-cleanup operation.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes if User Account Control asks for permission.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the command to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until the verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Remove and reinstall the OKI printer again.
- Print a test page.
DISM repairs the Windows component image that SFC uses. SFC then checks protected system files and replaces corrupted copies when possible. A successful result should report that corruption was repaired, or that no integrity violations were found.
These commands do not create a missing third-party printer driver. If SFC completes successfully but okipage.dll still fails, return to the printer reinstall procedure and locate a compatible driver package.

When you are repeatedly running repairs without knowing whether the component store or driver package is changing, Outbyte PC Repair can scan and identify Windows problems, while repair actions require the full version; it is optional and does not replace reinstalling the correct OKI driver.
Fix 5: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software may have removed the file, or it may have detected a suspicious copy pretending to be the printer driver.
- Open Start.
- Type Windows Security.
- Open the application.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Inspect any detection related to
okipage.dll. - Open the detection details.
- Check the original path, publisher, digital signature, and detection name.
A file in a trusted, signed driver package is different from a file in Downloads, a temporary folder, or an unrelated application directory. Do not restore a quarantined file simply because its filename matches the error.
If the file is confirmed as part of a trusted driver package and the detection is demonstrably false, follow Windows Security’s restoration controls. Microsoft warns that Defender may detect the file again after restoration. If you cannot establish its authenticity, leave it quarantined and reinstall the printer from Windows Update or another official driver source.
Run a full scan if the DLL was found outside a normal driver location or if the error appeared without any printer installation. A suspicious copy should be treated as a possible impersonating file, not as proof that Windows itself is missing a component.
Fix 6: Use System Restore after a recent change
System Restore can help when the error began immediately after a driver installation, Windows update, printer replacement, or cleanup utility operation.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs, if available.
- Review the changes.
- Select Close.
- Select Next, then Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
System Restore rolls back system files, registry settings, and installed programs without normally changing personal files. After the restart, check the printer and print a test page.
If no suitable restore point exists, cancel the wizard and continue with driver removal and reinstallation. Do not choose a restore point without reviewing its date and affected programs.

If the error appears when printing or when printer settings open, restart the Print Spooler after reinstalling the driver.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type:
services.msc
- Press Enter.
- Find Print Spooler.
- Right-click it.
- Select Restart.
- If it is stopped, select Start.
- Try printing a test page.
If the service stops again immediately, a damaged or incompatible printer driver may still be installed. Remove the affected printer, restart Windows, remove its obsolete driver package through printui.exe /s /t2, and reinstall the exact model.

Fix 8: Test whether the problem is application-specific
No reliable evidence identifies a particular game or standard application that intentionally requires okipage.dll. If no printer is installed and an unrelated program displays the message, the program may contain a stale dependency or an incorrectly bundled copy.
Use this test:
- Print a test page from Printers & scanners.
- Print from another application, such as Notepad.
- Test the same program from another Windows user profile.
- If possible, test the printer from another computer.
- Note whether only one program fails.
If every application that prints fails, continue repairing the printer driver. If only one program fails, identify that program in the error dialog and repair or reinstall it from its official source. Do not place okipage.dll into the program’s folder unless the program’s publisher specifically provides a verified, compatible package.
A failure limited to one user profile points toward a per-user printer registration problem. Test another profile before making global Windows changes.
Why downloading okipage.dll is unsafe
Do not download a standalone copy from a random DLL website and copy it into System32, SysWOW64, an application directory, or the Driver Store.
A loose DLL can have the wrong architecture, version, signature, dependencies, or printer-model compatibility. It may also be malicious or may only hide the damaged driver registration until the next print operation. Published third-party listings also disagree about this file’s version and size, so those values are not reliable identification data.
The safe sources are:
- Windows Update
- Windows’ Add device and Add manually printer workflows
- Microsoft Update Catalog when the architecture and model match
- The official OKI support page for the exact printer model
The goal is to restore the complete driver package, not merely place a file with the right name on disk.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Why regsvr32 usually does not help
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration functions such as DllRegisterServer. A printer-driver module is not necessarily a self-registering COM library.
Running a command such as this is therefore not a standard repair:
regsvr32 okipage.dll
If Windows reports that the entry point is missing, that does not prove the DLL is corrupt. It usually means the module was never designed to be registered that way. Reinstall the printer driver through Windows instead.

If the error remains after reinstalling
Work through these checks in order:
- Confirm the exact OKI model from the printer label.
- Confirm the Windows architecture under Settings > System > About.
- Check whether the printer is still listed under Printers & scanners.
- Remove duplicate OKI entries.
- Inspect old packages with
printui.exe /s /t2. - Check Windows Security Protection history.
- Run DISM and SFC.
- Restart the Print Spooler.
- Test another user profile.
- Review Event Viewer and Print Spooler logs for the failing module or path.
If the printer is obsolete and no compatible Windows 10 or Windows 11 package is available, Windows may not be able to use it reliably. Use a compatible Microsoft-provided driver if Windows offers one, try a supported generic printer-language driver where appropriate, or replace the printer.

Frequently asked questions
Is okipage.dll a Windows system file?
It is associated with a Microsoft-provided OKIPAGE printer driver package, but it is not present on every Windows installation. Its location depends on how the driver was staged and installed.
Which printer uses okipage.dll?
The strongest public identification is the OKIPAGE 14ex driver listed in Microsoft Update Catalog. The file may also be referenced by related legacy OKI printer packages, so verify the model rather than assuming every OKIPAGE device uses the same package.
Should I install a Visual C++ Redistributable?
No evidence connects okipage.dll with Visual C++ Redistributables, DirectX, or .NET. Repair the printer driver first.
Does the Microsoft IA64 package work on my x64 computer?
Do not assume so. IA64 is a separate architecture from ordinary x64, x86, and ARM64. Install only a package that matches the model and architecture offered for your computer.
Why is the file not in System32?
Windows may keep it inside the protected Driver Store as part of a staged driver package. That is normal. Do not copy files into the Driver Store manually.
Can I restore the file from antivirus quarantine?
Only after verifying the original path, publisher, signature, and detection. When authenticity is uncertain, reinstall the complete signed driver package instead.
What if no printer is installed?
Check the application named in the error. It may be loading a stale or incorrectly bundled dependency. Repairing the printer driver will not necessarily fix an unrelated application.
What is the safest first step?
Identify the printer model, remove it under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, restart Windows, and add it again through Windows Update.
