For a practical PvE Shrapnel build in Once Human, start with SOCR – The Last Valor and build around critical-hit synergy. Pair it with a mark-support option such as Recurve Crossbow, then choose armor, a Deviant and Cradle overrides to suit your gear and encounter. There is no single agreed best setup: recent guides recommend different armor mixes and situational support choices, and one also lists the reworked MG4 – Conflicting Memories as an alternative. The recommendations below reflect guides updated in September and October 2026; check current in-game descriptions after patches.

Which weapon should you use for a Shrapnel build?

SOCR – The Last Valor: the practical starting point

SOCR – The Last Valor is the clearest starting weapon across the reviewed Shrapnel guides. Its role in this setup is to trigger Shrapnel while benefiting from critical-hit investment. EarlyGame recommends a rapid-shot or critical-rate calibration and Shrapnel Souvenir; the September 2026 guide also names Shrapnel Souvenir and extended-magazine attachments where available. These are guide recommendations, not independently tested damage results. See EarlyGame’s Shrapnel guide and the September 2026 build guide.

Recurve Crossbow: mark support

Use Recurve Crossbow as a secondary when you want to apply Bull’s Eye or mark a target before switching back to the SOCR. The two guides describe it as mark support; it is not a required part of every version of the build. Follow the current in-game weapon and effect descriptions to confirm how the mark works in your scenario.

MG4 – Conflicting Memories: an alternative to check after patches

A broad build guide updated October 6, 2026 lists MG4 – Conflicting Memories as another Shrapnel weapon and reports that it was reworked in version 3.0.6. That makes patch context important: do not assume older MG4 advice still applies. Check its current behavior and relevant patch notes before committing resources. The broad guide’s comparison is at RaidRig’s 2026 build guide.

Which armor and mods fit your gear?

The reviewed guides do not agree on a single best armor set. Choose a coherent setup based on what you have rather than mixing every named piece and mod into one supposedly definitive loadout.

Falcon-focused option

EarlyGame recommends three calibrated Falcon pieces for critical bonuses, with Beret as its preferred remaining key armor piece; it also lists Earthly Boots as another key option. Its named mod choices are alternatives, not a checklist to equip all at once:

  • Helmet: First Move Advantage or Precise Strike.
  • Mask: Targeted Strike.
  • Gloves: Crit Boost Violent or Crit Amplifier.
  • Chest: Lifeforce Boost or Rejuvenating.
  • Pants: Three Strikes or Deadshot.
  • Boots: Covered Advance.

That page also describes a mixed Shrapnel/Unstoppable Bomber setup, so its pieces and mods should be read as part of that configuration rather than assumed to define every Shrapnel build. Details: EarlyGame’s guide.

Hootenanny Games Feelin' Cute Party Game, Animal Rankings, 2-8 Players
  • FEELIN’ CUTE is the fur-mily party game of determining which animals are the cutest! Think you can figure out which of your friends believes a Tree Frog is more precious than a Fennec Fox? You’re about to!
  • DESIGNED FOR 2-8 PLAYERS, ages 6 and up, the card game takes 15 minutes to play, and will leave players feelin' cuter than ever!
  • BOTH COMPETITIVE & COOPERATIVE gameplay options mean this family game that adults also enjoy is perfect for animals (or humans) of all kinds!
  • CHOOSE your favorite animal paw and place the Cuteness Scale in the center of the table. Draw animal cards and show them around. Decide how its cuteness compares to the last and the other players make their guesses. If no one guesses right, turn over a Blobfish token, and once all three are turned, tally your scores!
  • SPARKS HILARIOUS DISCUSSION about the cuteness of animals–and always ends with an emphatic "I want to play again!"

Lonewolf-focused beginner option and a higher-investment route

The September guide favors Lonewolf armor for its beginner SOCR route, with Crit Amplifier, Deadshot and Shrapnel Carnage among its recommended mods. For a more demanding boss-oriented alternative, it describes an SN700 Finale route using a Savior/Lonewolf mix. This is a progression distinction, not evidence that Lonewolf is universally better than Falcon. See the September 2026 guide for that guide’s full setup.

How should you choose a Deviant?

Treat the Deviant as encounter support, not a fixed best-in-slot choice. The recommendations vary with whether you need weak-spot support, aggro utility or survivability:

  • Butterfly’s Emissary: EarlyGame recommends it for weak-spot damage support.
  • Lonewolf’s Whisper: EarlyGame presents it as an aggro and damage-utility option; the September guide also recommends it for a Prime War situation.
  • Festering Gel: The September guide recommends it for survivability in its beginner plan.
  • Weak-spot butterfly: The September guide includes this for its SN700 boss setup.

These are situational guide recommendations. Check each Deviant’s current in-game description and your scenario’s needs before choosing.

Which Cradle overrides should you equip?

EarlyGame lists Long Range Enhancement, Deviation Master, Bullet Hunt, Tactical Combo, Status Enhancement, Sprint, First Round Blast and Bounty Hunter as Cradle options. The list is not a universal preset: the relevant effect can depend on weapon type, target, status or whether an enemy is marked. Select only overrides whose current descriptions match your weapon and encounter.

The September guide gives a different Cradle direction for its SOCR setup, reinforcing that the right combination depends on the configuration and situation. Because Cradle effects and scenario rules can change, verify the current in-game descriptions rather than copying an old list by name alone. References: EarlyGame and the September 2026 guide.

A practical progression plan for limited gear

  1. Build around the SOCR you can field. Use The Last Valor as the starting point in the reviewed beginner routes, and prioritize Shrapnel and critical-hit synergy.
  2. Use available support rather than chasing a perfect set. Add Recurve Crossbow if you want its mark-support role; choose the armor route that matches your available pieces, rather than treating Falcon and Lonewolf recommendations as one set.
  3. Fit mods to your actual pieces. Use the cited options as a menu for the corresponding guide’s configuration. Do not assume every named mod is easy to obtain or required for Hard-mode progression.
  4. Adjust support for the activity. Choose survivability, aggro or weak-spot support when the encounter calls for it, and review Cradle descriptions before changing overrides.
  5. Recheck after balance changes. The MG4 example shows why weapon recommendations can date quickly; the reviewed build pages were updated in September and October 2026, so later patches may change their relevance.

A September 15, 2026 player discussion specifically asks for a realistic setup using relatively accessible mods to move from Hard toward Pro. That is a useful progression goal, but it does not establish a tested universal loadout. The player discussion is at r/OnceHumanOfficial.

What the recommendations do—and do not—establish

The SOCR-centered route is a practical starting point supported by the reviewed guides, but their differing armor and support recommendations do not establish a single universally best combination. No independently verified official damage benchmark for these builds is established here, so treat performance claims on guide pages as their recommendations rather than guaranteed results. For current loadout categories and build-planner context, see Once Human Database’s builds and planner.
