Start with One Piece Box Set 1: East Blue and Baroque Works. It contains English manga volumes 1–23, begins at chapter one, and gives a new reader the correct entry point without hunting for individual books. Continue in numerical order with Box Set 2 (volumes 24–46), Box Set 3 (47–70), and Box Set 4 (71–90). VIZ lists Box Set 5 (91–111) for December 8, 2026, currently as a pre-order.
The sets are consecutive and non-overlapping through volume 90. Your first decision is therefore simple: choose the set containing the volume where you want to begin. Extras, release dates, price and stock matter after you have confirmed the volume range.

VIZ’s English box sets divide the printed series into consecutive ranges. Buying them in number order prevents duplicate volumes and keeps the story in sequence.

Which One Piece box set should a new reader buy first?
Choose Box Set 1 for a start-from-scratch collection
Box Set 1 is the unambiguous beginner purchase because its first book is volume 1. Its 1–23 range covers East Blue and Baroque Works in one package, so you do not need to assemble the opening portion from scattered single volumes. VIZ describes it as a premium set that saves money compared with buying the included volumes individually, although the amount you actually pay depends on the retailer and the date you order.
Buying Set 2, 3, 4 or 5 first would start you in the middle of the narrative. Those sets are useful for an existing reader filling a gap, but they are not substitutes for the opening volumes when you have never read the manga.
When a different set is the right first purchase
- If you already own or have read volumes 1–23, buy Box Set 2 next.
- If your collection ends at volume 46, Box Set 3 is the next complete block.
- If you own through volume 70, Box Set 4 continues at volume 71 and ends at 90.
- If you are caught up through volume 90 and want the Wano and Egghead material in a box, monitor Box Set 5’s December 8, 2026 release and pre-order status.
These choices are based on the starting volume, not on which poster or booklet you prefer. The extras are useful tie-breakers only after the sequence is correct.

Box Set 1: volumes 1–23
This set collects the opening 23 English volumes under the “East Blue and Baroque Works” description used by VIZ. It is the practical entry point for a first-time reader and the cleanest way to establish a physical collection from volume one. VIZ calls it a premium set and notes savings against individual-volume purchases; check the live retailer price rather than assuming a fixed discount.
Inspect the product description before checkout to make sure the listing is the complete box set, not a single volume or a used bundle missing its slipcase. The volume range printed in the listing should begin at 1 and end at 23.

Box Set 2: volumes 24–46
Box Set 2 follows immediately with volumes 24 through 46, covering Skypiea and Water Seven. There is no overlap with Set 1, so a reader who owns the first box can add this one without buying duplicate books. VIZ also describes Set 2 as a premium set with savings compared with the corresponding individual volumes.
For a new reader, Set 2 is a second purchase rather than a starting point. For a reader who bought single volumes through 23, it can consolidate the next range in one order.
Box Set 3: volumes 47–70
Set 3 contains volumes 47–70 and is labeled “Thriller Bark to New World.” In addition to the manga, VIZ lists an exclusive 48-page mini-comic and a double-sided color poster. The set’s release date is October 4, 2016.
The mini-comic and poster are specific to this set’s listed contents. If you are buying a second-hand copy, ask the seller whether both extras are present; a used box can contain the full volume run while missing inserts.
Box Set 4: volumes 71–90
Set 4 covers volumes 71–90: Dressrosa, Zou, Whole Cake Island and Reverie. VIZ lists an exclusive premium booklet and a double-sided color poster. It was released January 25, 2022, and its ISBN-13 is 978-1-9747-2596-0.

Because this set ends at volume 90, it is the correct stopping point for the first four-box sequence. Volume 91 belongs to Set 5, not Set 4.

Box Set 5: volumes 91–111
Set 5 is the next official block, collecting Wano and Egghead in volumes 91–111. VIZ lists a double-sided poster and a paper One Piece Trading Card Game playsheet as the included extras. Its ISBN-13 is 978-1-9747-6942-1.
As of October 20, 2026, VIZ presents Set 5 as a pre-order with a December 8, 2026 release date. Confirm that date, the seller’s delivery terms and the edition you are ordering before paying; a pre-order listing can change before release.
A step-by-step buying plan
- Decide where you are starting. A brand-new reader starts at volume 1. A returning reader should identify the highest volume already owned and select the next box’s starting number.
- Match the volume range. Check the listing for the exact endpoints: 1–23, 24–46, 47–70, 71–90 or 91–111. Do not rely only on a seller’s photo or a shortened title.
- Confirm the English edition. These box sets collect English-language volumes. Verify the publisher and language in the listing, especially when buying through a marketplace with imported editions.
- Read the contents and extras description. Set 3 should mention the 48-page mini-comic and poster; Set 4 should mention the booklet and poster; Set 5 should mention the poster and paper playsheet.
- Compare the current transaction price. VIZ’s premium-set savings are a general product claim, not a guarantee of a particular checkout price. Retailer pricing, shipping, taxes, stock and used-condition premiums can change.
- Check stock or pre-order terms. For Sets 1–4, confirm the seller has the complete box in stock. For Set 5, verify the December 8, 2026 release information and whether your order is a pre-order allocation.
- Inspect condition when buying used. Ask for photos of the outer box, every volume spine and the accessory compartment. Confirm that the manga is complete and that listed inserts are included.
- Keep purchase records. Save the listing, ISBN where supplied and a photo of the volume range. This makes it easier to resolve a missing book or incorrect edition.
Box sets versus individual manga volumes
Why a box set is usually better for a new physical collection
- One continuous range: each of Sets 1–4 groups a non-overlapping run, reducing the chance of skipping a volume.
- Collection convenience: one order delivers the complete numbered block instead of requiring many separate searches.
- Premium contents: Sets 3 and 4 include exclusive reading or display items, and Set 5 has a paper trading-card-game playsheet.
- Potential savings: VIZ describes Sets 1–3 as premium products with savings versus buying their individual volumes. The actual saving must be calculated from the retailer’s current price.
When individual volumes make more sense
- You already own most of a range and need only one or two missing numbers.
- A box is temporarily out of stock while individual books are available.
- You want to spread spending over time rather than purchase an entire 23- or 24-volume block.
- You are replacing a damaged volume and do not need a second box or duplicate extras.
Use the box-set endpoints as a checklist even when buying singles. For example, someone collecting Set 4’s material should account for every volume from 71 through 90, not just the volumes associated with a favorite arc.
Physical or digital: choosing the format
Physical box sets
Physical sets are the choice for readers who want a shelf collection, printed pages and the boxed extras. They also make the volume sequence visible: the first four sets together take the collection through volume 90. Storage space, shipping cost and the condition of the box are the practical trade-offs.

Official digital editions
VIZ’s collector guide names the VIZ and Shonen Jump apps, the VIZ website, Apple Books, BookWalker, Google Play, Kindle, Kobo, Manga Mirai and Nook as official digital channels. Storefront availability, licensing and pricing can differ by country and platform, so check the store serving your account.
VIZ advertised volumes 1–110 at $1.99 each from March 10 through April 10, 2026. That was a date-bound promotion, not a permanent digital price; it had ended by October 20, 2026. Treat any later sale banner as a new promotion and verify its dates before buying.
Digital is useful when you want immediate access without shelf space or shipping. Physical is better if the box, poster, booklet, mini-comic or playsheet is part of your collecting goal. You can also combine formats: read digitally, then buy only the physical ranges you want to display.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to evaluate price and value without guessing
No single “current price” applies to these sets because sellers change prices and inventory. Use the same calculation for every listing:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Record the complete delivered price, including shipping and taxes shown at checkout.
- Check how many volumes are included and whether the listing is new or used.
- For Set 3, include the 48-page mini-comic and poster in your condition check. For Set 4, check the booklet and poster. For Set 5, check the poster and paper playsheet.
- Compare that total with the cost of the same numbered volumes bought individually from the same retailer or storefront.
- Account for return rights and seller reliability. A lower price is not a saving if the box arrives incomplete or damaged.
This approach reflects VIZ’s savings claim without turning it into an invented percentage. The only dated digital figure supplied by VIZ is the $1.99-per-volume promotion running March 10–April 10, 2026.
Common buying mistakes and fixes
Starting with the wrong box
Symptom: the listing begins at volume 24, 47, 71 or 91 and you have not read the earlier books. Fix: return to Box Set 1, volumes 1–23, or obtain the missing earlier range before continuing.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.

Assuming Box Set 4 includes volume 91
Symptom: you expect the Dressrosa-through-Reverie box to continue into Wano. Fix: Set 4 ends at volume 90. Volume 91 starts Set 5.
Buying a partial or incomplete used bundle
Symptom: the seller photographs only a few spines or does not mention inserts. Fix: request a complete volume list and photos of the box interior and extras before ordering.
Recommended Free Tools
Treating a promotion as a standing price
Symptom: a past $1.99 digital offer is used to judge today’s price. Fix: note that VIZ’s offer was limited to March 10–April 10, 2026, then check the current storefront price.
Ignoring pre-order status
Symptom: a Set 5 page looks purchasable but does not ship immediately. Fix: confirm that it is a pre-order, review the listed December 8, 2026 release date and read the seller’s cancellation and delivery terms.
A practical collection roadmap
For a complete English print run represented by the current boxes, buy Set 1, then Set 2, Set 3 and Set 4. That sequence covers volumes 1–90 without overlap. Add Set 5 when its December 8, 2026 release arrives and the listing still matches your desired edition and extras; it extends the boxed run through volume 111.
If your priority is reading rather than collecting, start with Set 1 physically or use an official digital channel. If your priority is a finished shelf section, buy the next box only after checking that its first volume follows the last volume you own. This simple volume-number rule prevents every major sequencing error.
