Watch the original One Piece TV anime in episode-number order. Use the saga and arc names below to navigate different streaming menus, and skip only the blocks explicitly identified as filler if you want a manga-centered run. Canon and mixed-canon episodes remain essential, even when an arc is split by an anime-original story.
The correct way to watch One Piece
The reliable order is the broadcast episode number, starting with episode 1 and moving forward. Streaming services often rename or regroup seasons, so a service’s season label is not a substitute for the original number. Find the last episode you watched, match it to the guide below, and continue from the next numbered episode.

This approach separates three kinds of material:
- Canon episodes adapt Eiichiro Oda’s manga and carry the main plot.
- Mixed episodes combine manga material with anime-original scenes or transitions. Watch them rather than treating an entire surrounding arc as filler.
- Filler episodes and tie-ins are anime-original stories. They are optional for understanding the central narrative, although some are popular as extra adventures.
GamesRadar’s 2026 guide describes filler arcs as “Still very fun, but not necessary for understanding the story.” The complete anime now runs for over 1,100 episodes, so the selective route below can make a substantial difference without removing plot-critical material.

How to use the order when an arc has gaps
Gaps in a canon arc do not automatically mean that every episode around them is disposable. For example, Enies Lobby, Straw Hat’s Separation, Impel Down, and Post-War are presented as separate numbered blocks because the anime’s arc boundaries and recap structure interrupt the broadcast run. Follow the individual ranges in the table instead of skipping from one arc heading to the next.
The same rule applies to mixed episodes. If an episode contains manga-adapted events alongside an anime-original detour, watch it unless the guide specifically lists it as filler. A filler label applies to the named block, not to an entire saga.
Saga-by-saga navigation notes
East Blue
Begin with the five introductory adventures that establish Luffy’s crew, then continue through Loguetown. The two-episode Buggy side story and the longer Warship Island adventure can be removed without creating a plot gap in the main journey. If you are watching everything, retain them in their numbered positions so later episode references still line up.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteArabasta
The route from Reverse Mountain through Drum Island leads directly into the Arabasta conflict. Diary of Koby-Meppo is part of the listed watch order and gives Marine-side context; do not discard it merely because its title sounds like a recap. The Post-Arabasta block is the optional material after the saga’s main resolution.

Skypiea
For the shortest story route, move from Jaya into Skypiea. Goat Island, Ruluka Island, and G8 are all labeled filler in the guide. G8 is widely liked for its humor and crew interactions, but popularity does not change its optional status. Add it only if you want an extra standalone adventure.
Water 7
Long Ring Long Land begins the saga’s chain of conflicts before the story reaches Water 7 and Enies Lobby. The separated Enies Lobby ranges are intentional in this order; watch each listed block. Ocean’s Dream and Foxy’s Return are optional side stories. Boss Luffy is a historical-comedy special that appears in several positions, including much later than the main Water 7 material, so skip every listed Boss Luffy entry on a focused run.
Thriller Bark
The saga’s main material is concentrated in Thriller Bark. Ice Hunter, Chopper Man, and Spa Island are separate anime-original additions. They do not provide prerequisites for the following saga, making them straightforward cuts when pacing matters.
Summit War
This is one of the most tightly connected stretches of the series. Watch the Sabaody, Amazon Lily, separation, Impel Down, Marineford, and Post-War blocks in the exact sequence shown. Little East Blue is a promotional bridge to Strong World; retain it only when you want that film connection. Episode 492 is a Toriko crossover and is not needed for the Summit War storyline.

Fish-Man Island
Return to Sabaody sets up the reunion before the crew enters Fish-Man Island. The single crossover episode in the middle of the listed range is optional; resume with the next numbered Fish-Man Island episode after skipping it.
Dressrosa
Punk Hazard leads into Dressrosa, but both arcs contain interruptions. Keep the listed Punk Hazard and Dressrosa blocks, including the episodes after each gap. Z’s Ambition is a Film Z promotion, Caesar Retrieval is an anime-original bridge, and the Toriko/Dragon Ball crossover stands outside the main plot. Use the film-dependent episodes only if you want the associated movie context.
Whole Cake Island
Zou, Whole Cake Island, and Reverie form the watch route here. Silver Mine is a movie-related side adventure, while Marine Rookie is an optional anime-original story. Neither is required to understand the move into the next saga.
Wano
Wano’s broadcast run contains several optional insertions. Cidre Guild is a tie-in adventure, the 20th Anniversary episode is a special, and Uta’s Past is connected to a film. Keep Uta’s Past if you want that character and movie setup; otherwise continue from the next listed Wano block.

Final Saga
The cited guide places Egghead through episode 1155 and starts Elbaph at episode 1156. Because this is the current frontier of the guide, use episode numbers rather than a streaming service’s season name when locating the handoff.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do you need the One Piece movies and TV specials?
No. GamesRadar states that none of the films needs to be watched “in order to comprehend the plot of the series.” The guide counts 15 feature-length films, but the films are not fully canon as a group. They may reuse characters, settings, or concepts that connect to the wider story without making the movie’s events mandatory for the television narrative.
Watch the films only when you want additional material or a particular tie-in. These placements keep the optional stories near the episodes that promote or reference them:
- Strong World: place it after the Thriller Bark-era material. Little East Blue is the related optional tie-in.
- Film Z: watch around the Z’s Ambition episodes if you want the promotional lead-in.
- Film Gold: place it around the Silver Mine material.
- Stampede: use it around the transition after Whole Cake Island.
- Film Red: watch after Uta’s Past if you choose to keep that tie-in.
These placements are viewing conveniences, not claims that every film event sits inside the manga timeline. If your goal is only the principal story, skip the movies and all movie-promotion episodes marked optional in the table.

Where to start after watching One Piece on Netflix
Netflix’s One Piece catalog differs by country and may contain selected films or related content rather than the complete television run. Before switching services, open the last episode you completed and record its original number; do not rely on a Netflix season number. Then:
- Match that episode number to the table.
- Check whether the next block is canon, mixed, or explicitly filler.
- Continue with the next numbered watch episode on a service that carries it.
- If Netflix ends before the next episode, search for that episode number on another licensed catalog available in your country.
GamesRadar reports that the complete One Piece anime is available on Crunchyroll, while Netflix carries selected films and related content with territory-dependent catalogs. Verify your country’s current availability before subscribing or assuming that a season list is complete.
Choosing between the full run and the filler-skip route
Choose the full broadcast order when
- You enjoy standalone crew adventures and do not mind detours.
- You want every comedy episode, crossover, and anniversary special.
- You are watching a movie and want its associated promotional episodes in place.
Choose the filler-skip order when
- You want the manga-centered plot with fewer interruptions.
- You are catching up from a partial streaming catalog.
- You prefer to spend viewing time on canon and mixed episodes rather than anime-original arcs.
There is no penalty for returning to filler later. Keep a note of the skipped block and resume it after reaching the current story, when you have more interest in side adventures.
