Four open-world RPGs have strong English-language user scores on Steam: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition and Fallout: New Vegas at 96% positive, Cyberpunk 2077 at 89%, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance at 83%. We could not confirm that any of them beats Skyrim. We did not capture a Skyrim figure on the same Steam measure, language, edition and date, so this is a shortlist of highly rated alternatives rather than a ranking, and it covers four games, not seven.
What “better reviewed” would have to mean
A user score is only comparable when every side of the comparison is measured the same way. The most usable measure on Steam is the English-language lifetime positive share, meaning the percentage of English-language reviews on a store page that are positive, together with the number of reviews behind it. Steam’s summary can also be read for recent reviews, which move much faster, so those should not be mixed with lifetime figures.

A fair comparison with Skyrim therefore needs all of the following for each game:
- The same storefront (Steam), and the same review language (English).
- The same measure (lifetime, not recent reviews).
- The same edition or store listing. Skyrim has several Steam listings, so the one used must be named.
- A snapshot taken on the same day, since counts change as reviews arrive.
- A note on any off-topic review activity flag Steam displays.
Critic scores, aggregator totals and figures in other languages measure something different and should not be placed beside these numbers.

The four Steam-rated alternatives
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition
Steam describes this as an open-world RPG. Its English reviews show as Overwhelmingly Positive, with 96% of 241,369 reviews positive. That listing was crawled about a month before the October 2026 snapshot, so its count is likely to have grown since. The figure is for the Complete Edition listing specifically; the base game’s listing is a separate page and should be checked separately if you cite it.
Fallout: New Vegas
Steam tags Fallout: New Vegas as an Open World RPG, and its English reviews show as Overwhelmingly Positive at 96% of 170,362 reviews. Steam lists Obsidian Entertainment as developer and Bethesda Softworks as publisher. It has the closest structural kinship to Skyrim among these four, since both are Bethesda-published first-person open-world RPGs, though the two games come from different developers and different eras of the series.
Cyberpunk 2077
Steam describes Cyberpunk 2077 as an open-world action-adventure RPG set in Night City. Its English reviews show as Very Positive, at 89% of 391,621 reviews, the largest sample in this group. Steam has marked a period of off-topic review activity on this listing and excludes those reviews from the score by default. If you quote the 89% figure, say so, because the flag indicates the score reflects reviews that were not all about the game itself during that window.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Steam calls Kingdom Come: Deliverance a story-driven open-world RPG. Its English reviews show as Very Positive, at 83% of 63,693 reviews. A second Steam listing captured at a later point showed 63,901 reviews, still at 83%, which illustrates how counts shift between snapshots. This is the smallest sample of the four and the most narrowly focused on historical immersion, so its percentage reflects a different kind of player base than the larger, more action-oriented titles.

| Kingdom Come: Deliverance | 83% positive (Very Positive) | 63,693 (63,901 on a later listing) | Story-driven open-world RPG | Count varies between snapshots; percentage unchanged |

All figures are Steam store-page snapshots from the October 2026 check. They will change, so recheck them before quoting.
What this comparison cannot show yet
The main gap is the Skyrim baseline. Without a Skyrim figure captured on the same day, from the same listing and on the same measure, none of the four games can be ranked above it. The four figures also come from crawls at different times, so small differences between them are not reliable either. Finally, a high percentage describes how reviewers responded; it does not measure how well a game fits your taste, how long it takes to finish, or how stable it runs on your hardware.
Other titles considered and left out
- Red Dead Redemption 2: A third-party SteamDB table shows 91.82%. That is a different aggregate from Steam’s English-language store-page figure, so it cannot be placed in the table above.
- Elden Ring and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: PC Gamer’s 2026 RPG guide recommends both. Its reasoning is editorial, not user-review based, and no current Steam score for either surfaced in this check. Elden Ring’s focus on dangerous exploration and boss challenge differs sharply from Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s grounded medieval-life simulation, which is useful context if you are choosing by play style rather than score.
Three further entries would be needed to reach seven, and none of the additional titles checked had a comparable Steam figure, so the list stops at four.
How to run the comparison yourself
- Open Skyrim’s Steam store page for the edition you play, and note the percentage, the review count, and whether the summary is labelled All Reviews or Recent Reviews.
- Open each candidate’s store page and record the same three values from the same summary section.
- Confirm the summary is based on English-language reviews, which is the basis used in this article.
- Note the edition on each page. Complete, Special and base editions can carry separate review totals.
- Check for an off-topic review activity notice and, if present, record it alongside the percentage.
- Only compare percentages captured on the same day. Treat small gaps on modest sample sizes as ties, not wins.
Using these steps, the Steam numbers in this article can be extended to Skyrim or any other title on equal terms.
