To reach Heroes and Light, Advanced in Order of the Sinking Star, go to the far northwestern continuation of the basic Heroes and Light area, clear the stones obstructing the purple beam, and ride the extended beam north. Once inside, use the Wizard-and-beam rules to read the room in front of you: orange changes movement and sight by tile parity, green lets the Wizard see through walls but not energy doors, and purple can enable a swap at the beam’s endpoint.

Room numbers in walkthroughs are not reliable in-game identifiers. One dedicated guide covers 13 Advanced rooms in its creator’s play order, while another guide describes a different 22-puzzle, six-screen route. Match a solution to your visible board, heroes, and beam colors before following its moves.

Where is Heroes and Light, Advanced?

Advanced is the far northwestern continuation of the basic Heroes and Light section. A dedicated walkthrough labels the map tiles it covers as N4W3, N5W3, N4W2, N5W1, N4W1, and N5W2. Those coordinates belong to that guide’s playthrough scheme; they should not be treated as a universal in-game locator.

The entrance route described in a separate guide begins at the end of the basic area. Move the stone blocking the purple beam, clear the lower stone, and let the beam extend north. Ride that beam into the area labeled Advanced. If the route does not look like the description, first confirm that you are at the end of the basic section rather than trying to follow a numbered Advanced solution from the wrong room.

How many puzzles are in Heroes and Light, Advanced?

There is no uncontested official Advanced-room total established by the available guides. The clearest way to use their counts is to treat them as descriptions of different guide routes, not as interchangeable maps.

  • 13 rooms: Sinking Star Walkthrough’s 2026 dedicated guide labels 13 Wizard-and-beam Advanced rooms. Order of the Sinking Star Guides independently indexes an Advanced Part 3 with 13 puzzles. These are guide-defined counts, not a confirmed official in-game statistic.
  • 22 puzzles across six screens: an AllThingsHow Staff article from 2026 makes this different count and describes a burned-town/Hell route. That route does not match the dedicated 13-room walkthrough closely enough to combine their sequences or conclusions.

In practical terms, identify the room by its visible layout before using either count. The word “Advanced” alone does not prove that two guides cover the same set of boards, and a guide’s room number records its own sequence rather than a guaranteed in-game ID.

How do the Wizard and the beams work?

In these rooms, the beam is not just a path across the board: its color changes how the Wizard can move, see, or swap. Before committing to a route, check the Wizard’s tile, the target’s tile, the beam endpoint, and every obstacle that could affect the intended line.

Purple: plan the endpoint before moving stones

Travel toward the far end of a purple beam can let the Wizard swap with a crystal or another eligible occupant on the last tile. That makes the final beam tile strategically important: putting a crystal there can create a useful end swap.

A stone that blocks a beam is not equivalent to a crystal sitting on its final tile. The blocking stone can cut off the route instead of becoming a convenient endpoint target. If a purple route suddenly stops working after a stone move, check whether you have obstructed the beam rather than placing a swappable occupant at its end.

Orange: check two-tile movement and parity

Orange movement works as a two-tile jump, and the Wizard’s relevant sight follows same-color chessboard parity. A target can appear close while still being unreachable or unseen if it is on the wrong parity. Same-parity walls or pieces along the intended direction can matter as well.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Before attempting a distant swap, compare the colors of the Wizard’s tile and the target’s tile, then trace the same-parity route between them. If the setup is incompatible, change the Wizard’s or target’s parity deliberately rather than repeating the same swap attempt.

Green: walls are transparent, energy doors are not

Green sight can pass through walls, but not through energy doors. A wall therefore may not stop the Wizard from seeing a needed target, while an energy door still can.

Green layouts also reward planning backward from the intended emitter position. A move that gets an emitter into place may leave it impossible to move again, or strand the Wizard on a one-way row. Check how the Wizard will return and what the emitter can still reach before making a move that appears to solve only the immediate obstacle.

How should I identify the right walkthrough room?

Match the board, not just the number. The dedicated walkthrough’s 13 labels follow one creator’s play order, and its sequence even includes two basic-area rooms between Advanced puzzles 5 and 6. Another video-index guide numbers solutions by a different video’s order.

Before copying a move sequence, compare these details:

  • Map section: confirm that the guide is in the northwestern Advanced continuation, not the basic Heroes and Light area.
  • Board image: match the walls, doors, buttons, gaps, and starting positions you can see.
  • Heroes and beam colors: confirm that the Wizard, other characters, and active emitters match the guide.
  • Numbering convention: determine whether the number is an in-game label or simply the creator’s encounter order. The dedicated guide’s numbers are play-order labels.
  • Video timestamp: use the relevant footage point to verify that the shown layout is your room before following a sequence.
  • Game-build context: if a layout appears different, a tile-perfect sequence may not apply to your current build. The available guides do not establish a room-by-room comparison across game updates.

A mismatch is a reason to stop and re-identify the board, not to force a move order onto a similar-looking room. Even a small change in beam endpoint, starting tile, or occupied button can change which swap or route is possible.

What should I check if a room solution fails?

Diagnose the rule or the board mismatch before restarting a room. A solution may be valid for its pictured layout but fail on a different board, or a move may have changed the beam’s endpoint or the Wizard’s access.

  1. Recheck the starting layout. Compare the room image with your board, including the hero positions, stones, crystals, emitters, doors, and buttons.
  2. Trace the beam. Confirm that no stone is cutting it off and note which tile is actually its far end. If a move changed the beam, reassess any planned endpoint swap.
  3. Check the target occupant. A purple end swap depends on an eligible occupant on the last tile; a beam-blocking stone does not serve the same role.
  4. For orange, verify parity. Check the Wizard’s tile, the target’s tile, and same-parity obstacles along the intended direction. Remember that orange movement uses a two-tile jump.
  5. For green, account for doors and return paths. Walls may not block sight, but energy doors do. Also make sure a move will not strand the Wizard or leave an emitter unable to move again.
  6. Confirm the guide’s timestamp and route. A room number can refer to a different creator’s sequence, and the dedicated route includes basic-area rooms between two of its Advanced labels.

What are the 13 guide-room hints?

The following are orientation hints for the dedicated walkthrough’s play-order labels, not guaranteed in-game room IDs or tested tile-by-tile move lists. Use the matching board image and footage timestamp for exact moves.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Guide room First useful check
1 Look for a wall gap that lets you move the crystal with purple-beam rides, then place it on the green button.
2 Check whether the crystal can sit on the last purple-beam tile so the Wizard can use an end swap to move it.
3 Do not treat the beam-blocking stone like the crystal in room 2. The guide’s hint is to route the stone around the upper path first.
4 Use the stone to define the beam endpoint, then consider an end swap that puts the crystal on the button.
5 The boxed-in start calls for a swap to escape; the emitter route toward the upper-left is the key to carrying the Wizard to the goal.
6 Inspect the button beneath the starting tile, then check whether the crystal and target are on compatible orange parity.
7 When judging which distant stone or wall the Wizard can see, trace only the same-parity tiles.
8 Consider using the orange emitter to jump onto the final button without undoing another button that is already occupied.
9 For an orange-lit gap with dragon fire, check whether a stone or emitter can block the fire while enabling the swap route.
10 Identify green-room trap rows before routing the emitter toward the bottom-right.
11 Use green wall-sight to expose the needed crystal and gem swaps, and plan the emitter position around that route.
12 Look for a way to shuttle the red emitter between gate sets, then construct a green-emitter-and-crystal lift for the return trips.
13 Plan how both green emitters pass through the constrained gap, then check their final stacking order so one does not block the other’s beam.

The guide groups these rooms into footage-linked sections for rooms 1–5, 6–10, and 11–13. Use those sections to locate a likely solution, but verify the pictured board before acting: the hints above identify the puzzle’s first useful consideration, not every required move.

Does clearing the 13-room route guarantee the Antipode Hell achievement?

No such guarantee is established by the dedicated 13-room guide. The separate article that discusses a burned-town/Hell chain and an Antipode Hell achievement describes a materially different route, so do not assume that completing the 13 Wizard-centered rooms awards that achievement.

If your goal is an achievement rather than simply solving the visible Advanced rooms, use a guide whose map and route match your game. The conflicting counts and sequences make the room layout a safer reference than a shared label such as “Advanced.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How many rooms are in the main Heroes and Light area?

Sinking Star Walkthrough describes the main Heroes and Light area as 54 rooms and treats its Advanced follow-up separately. That guide’s 54-room figure refers to the main area, not the disputed Advanced count.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does Order of the Sinking Star have more than 1,000 puzzles?

Thekla, Inc.’s 2026 Steam game description says the game has “over 1000 interconnected, hand-crafted puzzles.” That is a whole-game description and does not specify how many belong to Heroes and Light, Advanced.

Where can I find an exact move sequence for a particular Advanced room?

The dedicated Sinking Star Walkthrough guide pairs room hints with pictures and footage-linked steps. Use the image and timestamp for the room that matches your board; its numbering is the creator’s play order, not a universal room identifier.
