Overwatch 2 arrived on Xbox Game Pass on September 17, 2024—not tomorrow. Blizzard’s launch announcement described six skins and a one-time grant of 30 Mythic Prisms for eligible members who linked their accounts. Xbox Wire later outlined additional benefits, but the sources available do not confirm that the original rewards remain redeemable as of October 8, 2026.
What Overwatch 2 Game Pass benefits were announced?
Blizzard’s September 2024 announcement listed these launch rewards for players with an eligible Game Pass membership linked to Battle.net:
- Six skins: Cardboard Reinhardt, Turtleship D.Va, Cyberdragon Hanzo, Street Runner Genji, Bee Mercy, and Cleric Lifeweaver.
- A one-time grant of 30 Mythic Prisms.
In a March 26, 2025 overview, Xbox Wire described the benefits for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members as including those six skins, the one-time Mythic Prisms grant, a 10% XP boost, and access to selected Shop cosmetics from the previous three seasons. The cosmetics access excluded Battle Pass, collaboration, Mythic, and other promotional content. These descriptions reflect the offers stated in those announcements; they do not establish what is claimable now.
How did the announced access work?
Blizzard’s launch announcement said players could link a Battle.net account to an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox Game Pass for Console, or PC Game Pass account and log in to unlock benefits. Its September 17, 2024 update stated: “Game Pass permanent rewards are only redeemable on Xbox and Battle.net.”
