The filename also appears in an archived game-related directory listing beside other input plug-ins, including padSeguDIJoy.dll. That strongly suggests it belongs to a particular older game, emulator, or game-related application rather than to Windows itself.

Do not download a random copy of padsegudikey.dll and place it in System32. A downloaded DLL may be malicious, the wrong architecture, incomplete, or missing the dependency that is actually causing the error.
What padsegudikey.dll is
Public file records describe padsegudikey.dll as:
- Internal name:
padSeguDIKey DLL - Product description:
DirectInput Keyboard Driver - Commonly reported architecture: 32-bit
- Listed version in public records:
1.0.0.1 - Listed size: approximately 32 KB
- Publisher: not identified
Those records are third-party metadata, not official documentation from the original developer. The original publisher and the exact package that installed the file remain unverified.
The “DirectInput Keyboard Driver” description should not be confused with a standard Microsoft DirectInput or DirectX runtime. Microsoft does not list this DLL as part of the DirectX End-User Runtime, Visual C++ Redistributables, Windows, or .NET.
Recommended Free Tools
Because it appears to be a private application DLL, the correct location is normally the affected program’s own installation directory, beside the executable or another plug-in file. It does not normally need to be registered globally.
First identify the program that needs it
Before repairing Windows, find the application that is requesting the file.
Check the error window
Look at the title bar and surrounding text. The program name may appear in the window title, taskbar button, launcher, or shortcut.
Also note when the error occurs:
- Immediately after starting an old game
- After launching an emulator
- When opening a shortcut from the desktop
- After an update or reinstall
- After antivirus software quarantined a file
- When opening a game from a launcher
Inspect the shortcut
- Right-click the shortcut that produces the error.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Shortcut tab.
- Read the Target and Start in fields.
- Note the program’s installation folder.
Do not copy the DLL yet. The folder helps determine which installer or launcher must be repaired.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCheck installed applications
- Press Windows key + I.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Search for the game or application.
- Select its three-dot menu, if available.
- Look for Advanced options, Modify, Repair, or Uninstall.
If the error names a program you no longer use, remove its broken shortcut or uninstall the incomplete application rather than trying to install the DLL globally.
Fix 1: Verify or repair the original application
This is the most likely fix for padsegudikey.dll.
For a game launcher
Open the launcher that installed the game and look for an option named:
- Verify files
- Verify integrity
- Repair
- Scan and repair
- Manage installation
- Check files
The exact wording depends on the launcher.
Start the verification and wait for it to complete. A successful repair should restore the missing file to the game’s own folder and allow the executable to start without the DLL message.
If verification reports that files are missing but cannot replace them:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Close the launcher.
- Restart Windows.
- Open the launcher as an administrator by right-clicking it and selecting Run as administrator.
- Run verification again.
- If it still fails, uninstall and reinstall the complete game from its original source.
For a conventional Windows application
Try the built-in repair option:
- Open Settings with Windows key + I.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Find the affected application.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Advanced options.
- Select Repair, if available.
For older desktop programs:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpl. - Press Enter.
- Select the affected program.
- Choose Repair or Change, if offered.
- Follow the installer instructions.
If repair is unavailable or does not restore the file, reinstall the application from its original installer. A complete reinstall is safer than downloading only padsegudikey.dll, because it restores the matching executable, plug-ins, configuration files, and dependencies together.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
An antivirus product may have removed a private old DLL. That does not prove the file was safe or malicious, so inspect the event before restoring anything.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Expand recent detections.
- Look for an event involving
padsegudikey.dllor the affected application. - Check the detected file path and threat details.
Restore or allow the file only when all of these are true:
- It came from the original application installer or a trusted backup.
- The installation source is known.
- The affected application genuinely requires it.
- You have checked the installer and the restored file with current security software.
If the file came from a DLL download site, do not restore it. Remove it and reinstall the complete application from its original source instead.
After restoring a quarantined file, run the application again. If Windows Security immediately detects it again, do not repeatedly override the detection. Leave the file quarantined and obtain a clean application installer.
Fix 3: Check whether a dependency is missing
The message “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that padsegudikey.dll itself is absent. Windows may have found the named DLL but failed to load one of its dependencies.
This can happen when:
- The application installation is incomplete.
- A required legacy runtime is missing.
- The wrong 32-bit or 64-bit component is installed.
- A supporting DLL was removed by cleanup software or antivirus.
- The application was copied from another computer instead of installed.
Repair or reinstall the affected program first. If its documentation or installer names a prerequisite, install that prerequisite from its official publisher.
For older games, Microsoft’s DirectX End-User Runtime can restore legacy side-by-side DirectX libraries used by some older software. It is not a verified source of padsegudikey.dll, so installing it will not replace the missing private DLL.
If the application reports a C or C++ runtime error, use Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable packages. A 32-bit application generally requires the x86 package, even when Windows itself is 64-bit. Install x64 and x86 packages only when the application or dependency analysis calls for them.
Do not install every runtime package at random. Extra packages do not substitute for the application’s original files.
Fix 4: Confirm the application architecture
Public records more consistently identify padsegudikey.dll as a 32-bit file, although some directory metadata conflicts. Treat the 32-bit classification as better-supported rather than as an absolute identification of every copy.
To check whether Windows is 64-bit:
- Open Settings.
- Select System.
- Select About.
- Read System type.
A 32-bit game can run on 64-bit Windows, but it still needs compatible 32-bit application files and prerequisites.
Do not assume that copying a 32-bit DLL into C:WindowsSystem32 will fix a 32-bit application. On 64-bit Windows, System32 is primarily the location for 64-bit system binaries, while SysWOW64 contains 32-bit system binaries. Neither folder is a general-purpose storage location for private game DLLs.

If the file came from a trusted application installer, place it only where that application’s installer or documentation specifies, normally its own directory beside the executable.
Fix 5: Update or reinstall a related driver only when indicated
The product description contains the word “Driver,” but there is no verified evidence that padsegudikey.dll is a standard Windows hardware driver or a component of a modern keyboard, chipset, audio, or graphics package. Do not start by replacing every driver on the computer.
Consider driver repair only if:
- The error began immediately after a device-driver update.
- Device Manager shows a warning icon.
- The affected application uses a specific input device.
- The application’s original installer identifies a required controller or input package.
- Other input-related errors appeared at the same time.
To inspect Device Manager:
- Right-click the Start button.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand relevant categories such as Keyboards, Human Interface Devices, Sound, video and game controllers, or Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Look for a yellow warning icon.
- Right-click the affected device and select Properties.
- Open the General tab and read Device status.
- Open the Driver tab to view the provider and driver date.
- Use Update Driver or Roll Back Driver only when the device or recent change points to that driver.
For a clean reinstall:
- In Device Manager, right-click the affected device.
- Select Uninstall device.
- If offered, select the option to remove the driver package.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the current driver from the hardware manufacturer or allow Windows to redetect the device.
Manually hunting through several hardware vendors and matching x86 application dependencies can take longer than the actual repair. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and show what needs attention; its full version performs the driver installation, but it is not required, and reinstalling the original game or application remains the definitive fix for a private application DLL.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components when other system errors exist
Windows repair commands are secondary for this error because padsegudikey.dll is not verified as a Windows system file. Use them when other Windows components are also failing, applications crash broadly, or system files appear damaged.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Wait for DISM to finish. Then run:
sfc /scannow
Do not close the window until the scan reaches 100 percent.
Restart Windows and test the affected application.
Possible results include:
- Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations: Windows protected files were not damaged.
- Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them: Restart and test again.
- Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them: Run DISM again, restart, and repeat SFC. If the application still reports the DLL error, repair or reinstall the application itself.
Repeating SFC and DISM cannot recreate a private DLL that was never part of Windows. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for broader Windows repair issues and show what needs attention; its full version performs the repair, but it is optional and does not replace reinstalling the affected application.
Fix 7: Use Windows recovery only after a recent change
If the error began directly after installing an update, application, driver, or cleanup utility, undoing that change may help.
Remove a recent application
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Sort by installation date, if available.
- Select the recently installed program.
- Choose Uninstall.
Use System Restore
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs, if available.
- Review the changes.
- Select Next, then Finish.
System Restore can reverse applications, settings, and some files changed after the restore point. It does not provide a verified copy of padsegudikey.dll, so repair the original program afterward if necessary.
Why regsvr32 usually does not apply
Do not run these commands merely because a DLL is missing:
regsvr32 padsegudikey.dll
regsvr32 /u padsegudikey.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration functions such as DllRegisterServer, commonly COM or ActiveX components. There is no public evidence that padsegudikey.dll is such a component.
Registration does not download a missing file, restore a damaged application, or supply missing dependencies. If you run regsvr32 and receive an error such as “The module was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found,” that is evidence that registration is not the appropriate repair.

A standalone DLL from an unknown download site can be:
- Malware or a modified copy
- The wrong version
- The wrong architecture
- Missing its own dependencies
- Incompatible with the application
- Blocked again by antivirus
It may also hide the real cause, such as an incomplete game installation or damaged application folder.
Use the original game or application installer, its official launcher repair function, the hardware manufacturer’s driver page when a device is genuinely involved, and Microsoft’s official DirectX or Visual C++ pages when the application specifically requires those components.
Never copy an unknown file into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64, and do not copy the same DLL into both folders.

FAQ
Is padsegudikey.dll a Windows system file?
There is no verified evidence that it ships with Windows. It is better treated as a private application or game-related DLL.
Is it part of DirectX?
No Microsoft documentation identifies padsegudikey.dll as a DirectX redistributable component. The “DirectInput Keyboard Driver” description comes from third-party file metadata and does not prove that Microsoft DirectX installed it.
Which game or application uses it?
The exact original publisher is unknown. An archived game-related directory listing shows the filename beside other input plug-ins, but that does not prove that every error comes from that game. Identify the executable and repair that application.
Should I download the DLL manually?
No. Use the original installer or launcher repair process. A random copy can be unsafe or incompatible and may not include the missing dependency.
Should I copy it into System32?
No. A private application DLL normally belongs in the application’s own directory, not in a Windows system folder.
Is the file 32-bit or 64-bit?
Public records more consistently identify it as 32-bit, but metadata conflicts. Verify any trusted copy with a reputable PE inspection tool and match it to the application architecture.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Will SFC restore it?
Usually not. SFC repairs protected Windows files, while padsegudikey.dll is not verified as a Windows component. SFC and DISM are appropriate when broader Windows corruption is present.
Why does Windows say “The specified module could not be found” when the file exists?
The named DLL may be present while one of its dependencies is missing, incompatible, or blocked. Repair the complete application and install only the prerequisites it officially requires.
Can I register it with regsvr32?
Normally no. There is no evidence that this DLL is a COM or ActiveX server with a registration entry point. Registration is not a general DLL repair method.
