It is a retrospective look at that release—not a new or latest update; the official roadmap shows later updates through September 2026.
What did the PAYDAY 3 update add?
The October 2024 update combined lobby discovery and communication features with interface changes. Starbreeze described the Anniversary Update Part 2 improvements as free. - Server browser: Browse available lobbies, filter by heist and difficulty, and see whether the host intends to play stealth or loud. Players can also create a lobby by choosing a heist, difficulty, and approach.
- Cross-platform communication: In-game VoIP was added across platforms, and text chat was added on PS5 and Xbox.
- Host control: A lobby leader can remove another player with Host Kick.
- Party and interface updates: The main menu was revamped, the party system upgraded for inviting friends and creating or joining lobbies, and lobby preplanning added. The update also redesigned the heist-results screen and added main-menu widgets for Mask of the Week, challenges, and the latest news.
- Cosmetics and animations: The announcement included Twitch Drops for in-game cosmetics and new masks; the changelog also notes new inspect animations and Compact 7 animations.
How does the server browser work?
Find or create a lobby
Use the browser to discover available lobbies and narrow the listings by heist, difficulty, or the host’s stated stealth-or-loud approach. To host, select a heist, difficulty, and approach to create a lobby.
Heist ownership still applies
The browser does not let players host or join heists they do not own. If a friend owns the heist, that friend can create the lobby and invite a non-owner through the Social Menu, according to the official changelog. That is distinct from finding and joining a lobby through the browser.

Issues noted in the October 2024 changelog
The October 30, 2024 changelog reported two issues: a player could potentially remain connected to a lobby’s VoIP channel after leaving a heist, and Friends Only lobbies did not appear in the server browser, though they remained joinable through the Social Menu. These are historical reports from that changelog; their current status has not been established here.

Starbreeze announced the update on October 30, 2024 alongside the Year 1 Edition. That edition was described at the time as a purchasable package containing the base game, Year 1 Pass, and additional content; the announcement is not evidence of its current price or availability. The official PAYDAY 3 roadmap places the release in October 2024 and records subsequent updates through the third-anniversary release in September 2026.
