To start Akinari Kamiki’s Sun Social Link in Persona 3 Reload, raise Maiko Oohashi’s Hanged Man link to rank 3, reach Academics level 4, and wait until Koromaru has moved into the dorm. On a Sunday, meet Akinari at Naganaki Shrine, then fetch his lost red fountain pen from Koromaru and return it to him. Akinari is available only on Sundays during the day, so plan around that limited window.
How to unlock and start Akinari’s Sun Social Link
- Reach Hanged Man rank 3. Progress Maiko Oohashi’s Social Link to rank 3; this is the introduction path to Akinari.
- Meet the requirements. You need Academics level 4, and Koromaru must have moved into the dorm.
- Find Akinari on Sunday. Go to Naganaki Shrine during the day and speak with him. He will mention that he has lost his red fountain pen.
- Get the pen from Koromaru. Return to the dorm and speak with Koromaru to receive Akinari’s Red Fountain Pen.
- Return the pen. Bring it back to Akinari at Naganaki Shrine to initiate the Sun Social Link.
Guides disagree on the first calendar date: RPG Site lists August 9, while GameFAQs lists August 23; Neoseeker’s search-result snippet also gives August 23 but pairs it with Hanged Man rank 4. Push Square confirms the core prerequisites without specifying a date in its Akinari section. Treat the date as progression-dependent rather than a universal deadline, and follow the prerequisite sequence if Akinari is not yet available. Where and when to find Akinari
Akinari appears at Naganaki Shrine on Sundays during the day. Because you get only a narrow weekly opportunity, prioritize his link if you are trying to max every Social Link. The Hermit link also uses Sunday, so decide which one to advance on a given visit. If you are playing primarily for the story, you can return on a later Sunday if you miss a meeting.
Do dialogue answers matter for rank-ups?
GameFAQs lists zero required relationship points for every Sun rank transition, so you do not need to choose optimal answers just to advance the link. The choices below are optional point optimizers; RPG Site’s listed values assume you have a Sun Arcana Persona in stock. The totals apply to the choices shown for each transition.
