Yes, Phantom Blade Zero has a substantial post-credits path, but it is not a live-service endgame. After finishing the story, you can clean up regions, pursue the missable True ending, start New Game Plus (NG+), raise ability ranks through successive Cycles, or attempt the optional 66 Days hardcore mode. The launch game released digitally on PlayStation 5 and Windows on 29 October 2026. NG+ carries your combat power into a reset campaign, while 66 Days uses a separate, irreversible save. You can earn the Platinum Trophy in one playthrough on any of the first three difficulty levels, provided you complete the True-ending and other missable requirements.
Is there New Game Plus in Phantom Blade Zero?
Yes. NG+ unlocks after the credits and is an optional mastery run rather than a second campaign with exclusive chapters. From any bell, fast-travel to the Puppet Cell at the Mountain of Imprisonment and speak with Inanis.

Quests, maps, key items and your remaining days reset. You therefore keep the tools and build you developed, but replay the world as a fresh clear. Enemies do not respawn for farming, so the appeal is learning encounters with late-game equipment rather than grinding an endless loot loop. Public launch information describes NG+ as more difficult, but does not provide a complete enemy-health or scaling table.

Director Qiwei “Soulframe” Liang said, “We’re not holding back exclusive story content for New Game Plus.” Late weapons obtained from powerful or final bosses are intended to have practical use in earlier chapters instead of arriving when the adventure is already over. Liang estimated that at least the last ten weapons can make early bosses feel different in NG+ or 66 Days; that is a developer estimate, not a complete weapon count.
What carries into later Cycles?
Maxroll documents a separate progression layer tied to Cycles, meaning playthroughs made after the first completion. There are 32 abilities in total, and their final ranks require The Banyan’s Heart and Remnant Dust after you collect sets of eight Sha-Chi Ambers, Blackstones and Memory Flowers. You can allocate five ranks per Cycle, up to NG+6, and reset your ability allocation whenever needed. This is the clearest documented NG+-gated progression system; there is no published first-party table listing every carried currency or each Cycle’s enemy modifier.

There are two endings documented by the launch-day trophy guide: a Normal ending and a True ending, also described as the Perfect ending. The Normal ending follows the standard final boss, Meng Hua, the Merciful Lady of the Blossom Veil. Completing the True-ending requirements makes a different final boss appear after Meng Hua and awards the missable gold trophy With Heart and Blood.
There is an unresolved count conflict. In a 2025 interview, Liang said, “We have 8 different endings in the game, depending on how many side quests you complete.” Launch-day guides, however, document only the Normal and True routes. No independently verified source has established official names or complete procedures for six additional cinematic endings, so lists of named eight-route endings should not be treated as confirmed.
For practical purposes, the True-ending checklist is the route that matters for completion and the Platinum Trophy. If you want to see the Normal ending as well, keep a manual save before the final sequence or plan another run; NG+ has not been confirmed as the cleanest way to collect both.
How do I get the True or Perfect ending?
The True ending is a quest-and-collection route, not a final dialogue choice. Complete the following purple-icon tales before entering Mirage Estate in Pangzhen, at the end of The Four Serpent Houses:

After the fifth Long Pillar challenge, complete Bloodline Awakening before going to Mount Soulrend. You must also defeat both optional blade masters:
- Zhu Yuan: found at the Meigu Lake Sha-Chi Tower.
- Commander Bi Feng: found at the Mountain of Imprisonment.
Defeating both awards The Two Blade Masters. Once the checklist is complete, proceed through Meng Hua and the subsequent true final boss to unlock With Heart and Blood.
Where are the points of no return?
The game warns you before entering Mirage Estate in Pangzhen. A second warning appears when you ring the The Last Chance bell in Mount Soulrend. That bell warning can appear even when your checklist is complete because the final-boss area cannot be left until the ending sequence plays. You can return to explore after the ending.
Make a manual save at the beginning and end of each region. The game provides 20 manual-save slots and three rotating autosaves. If the Journal marks a required tale as failed, reload an earlier save rather than assuming NG+ will repair it.

Yes. Missing a purple-icon tale, either blade master, or Bloodline Awakening can leave you on the Normal route. The launch-day guide reports that the listed True-ending quests are not failed by ordinary actions except crossing the stated cutoffs, so the safest method is to clear them before Mirage Estate and preserve regional saves.
Can I earn the Platinum Trophy in one playthrough?
Yes. The launch trophy roadmap lists 36 offline trophies: one Platinum, three Gold, 14 Silver and 18 Bronze. It estimates 30–40 hours, rates the challenge about 4/10 on Easy and 6/10 on Normal, and sets the minimum at one playthrough. Difficulty does not affect trophies, and no DLC is required.

Liang stated that every achievement can be earned within the first three difficulty levels, including Wayfarer, in a single playthrough. That means you do not need Pathbreaker, Hellwalker, NG+ or 66 Days for the Platinum. The hardest trophy is With Heart and Blood, because the True ending is missable.
Which trophies are missable?
The roadmap identifies seven missable trophies: With Heart and Blood, Forbidden Arts Beneath the Lake, The Last of Baishan, Together Till the End, A Wanderer’s Honor, Spectral Blade and The Healer’s Legacy.

Before leaving the relevant regions, watch for these tripwires:
- Spectral Blade: start A Severed Mindseal in Weeping Valley Creek.
- The Healer’s Legacy: complete Apprentice Healer before Jing Ye, then A Healer’s Mercy and give Yu’er the Flesh Lily before Bai Chilian.
- The Last of Baishan: accept Secrets of the Baishan Sect from Lanlan before Bai Chilian.
- Together Till the End and A Wanderer’s Honor: accept The Journey Home and Young Master Lan in Village of Lu, then complete their first objectives before Pangzhen.
Many NPCs and locations are easy to overlook. One reviewer’s completionist run also found a missable training line involving a gold-masked man, so explore towns and speak with unusual NPCs before advancing through the marked cutoffs.
What should I do after the credits?
The most reliable post-credits order depends on your goal:
- Finish the first run carefully. Clear the True-ending checklist, missable tales and collectibles before Mirage Estate and Mount Soulrend.
- Free-roam after the ending. The roadmap allows cleanup of regions and non-missable tales after the story.
- Start NG+ for combat mastery. Your equipment and training carry over while quests and maps reset.
- Advance Cycles. Use the NG+-gated ability ranks, up to NG+6, if you want a long-term build project.
- Attempt 66 Days last. It is a separate high-risk challenge with no trophy requirement.
This is not a Destiny-style endgame. There is no documented raid, live-service activity or launch story expansion. Reviewers describe only a few separate trials with repeat bosses; most of the replay value comes from rebuilding routes with stronger weapons, experimenting with abilities and mastering more demanding enemy behavior.

What is 66 Days mode?
66 Days is the game’s hardcore mode built around Soul’s 66-death limit. It uses Hellwalker-tier enemy intelligence, a separate save file and a 66-death cap. Touching its bell autosaves immediately; there is no manual save and no way to reload before a mistake. If the counter reaches zero, a regret ending with a short animation plays, the session becomes permanent history and the game asks whether you want to start again.
Liang presented Sixty-Six Days as a New Game Plus-exclusive mode after deciding that a full permadeath campaign from the opening minute would be too severe. Other launch reporting describes it as unlocking after finishing Pathbreaker or Hellwalker, so the exact unlock wording should be checked against current in-game instructions. The consistent facts are the separate save, irreversible mistakes, 66-death limit and lack of trophy requirements. Liang also said nobody on the S-Game team had completed it deathless at the time of his comments.
How long is Phantom Blade Zero with endgame content?
Expect a wide range because the route and difficulty matter:
- Liang said the main story can take 20–30 hours in 2025.
- In 2026, he estimated 25–30 hours for an experienced player who does not get stuck.
- TheSixthAxis reported about 40 hours including helping NPCs.
- Insider Gaming estimated roughly 40 hours played and 45–50 for completionist progress.
- IGN reported about 50 hours on the hardest difficulty across eight maps.
- TheGamer’s reviewer spent about 45 hours exploring thoroughly.
- PowerPyx estimates 30–40 hours for the Platinum.
For a first run that includes the True ending and missable quests, planning around 40–50 hours is safer than using the director’s no-detour story estimate. NG+ Cycles and 66 Days are additional projects, not part of those campaign figures.
Why does the game remain replayable without a traditional loot endgame?
Replayability comes from combat variables rather than an enemy-respawn farm. The game has more than 30 primary weapons, about 25 Phantom Edges and six accessories. Weapons can be upgraded and reforged, with materials refunded when you change direction. Liang says a weapon’s level-1 and level-30 versions can differ in handling and strategy, not merely damage numbers.
Bosses drop weapons, and bringing a weapon associated with a boss can reveal extra dialogue. Phantom Edges also function as exploration tools, including grapples, axes and flamethrowers; maps mark locked tool gates, making later backtracking purposeful. Liang has even discussed finishing with one weapon, including a theoretical wooden-sword challenge.

There are no standard enemy respawns, so a second run is a new route through the maps rather than a repeatable farming circuit. Boss phase checkpoints reduce the cost of learning difficult fights, while higher difficulties alter enemy behavior and skills instead of simply inflating statistics. On Hellwalker, for example, Flower Bride/Hua can use three white flowers from different directions rather than one.
Which difficulty or replay path should I choose?

Choose Wayfarer if the True-ending checklist and exploration are your priority. Pathbreaker is the natural standard run. Hellwalker is for players who want stronger behavior changes and a demanding but conventional save system. NG+ suits build experimentation, while 66 Days is best treated as a final challenge after you understand every region and boss.
Is NG+ the game’s complete endgame?
NG+ is the main repeatable campaign option, but it is not a hidden sequel or a replacement for the first-run True-ending route. The launch design deliberately keeps story content in the initial campaign, then uses weapons, abilities, Cycles and higher enemy behavior to make repetition worthwhile. If you want every possible ending beyond the two documented launch routes, the evidence is not yet complete enough to promise a definitive collection method.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Phantom Blade Zero have NG+-exclusive story missions?
No exclusive story chapters have been reported. Director Qiwei “Soulframe” Liang said the game does not hold back story content for NG+; its purpose is to let you use late weapons and continue build progression.
Do I need Hellwalker or 66 Days for the Platinum Trophy?
No. All trophies can be earned on Wayfarer, Pathbreaker or Hellwalker, and the roadmap sets one playthrough as the minimum. 66 Days has no trophy requirement.
Can I switch difficulty during a normal Phantom Blade Zero run?
Preview coverage reported that standard modes can be changed from the pause menu. That report should not be applied automatically to 66 Days, whose separate-save rules are stricter.

Not on launch day. Liang’s earlier statement supports an eight-ending count, but launch trophy documentation confirms only Normal and True/Perfect routes, and no independently verified source has established names for six additional endings.
