For a concert in downtown Burien, the Burien Transit Center is usually the simplest starting point: it connects several Metro and Sound Transit routes and shares a property with the Burien Park & Ride garage. Town Square Park and City Hall are about 0.2 miles from the center, so many central events are reachable with a short walk. If you drive, compare the garage with the City’s downtown lots—and confirm event-day parking rules and your trip home before you leave.

What should I check before leaving for a Burien concert?

Start with the event’s exact venue and date. Burien concerts and arts events are not all held in one place: an outdoor event near Town Square has different transit and parking needs from a performance at another venue. The route, walking distance, parking rules, and useful return trip all depend on the location and show schedule.

  1. Confirm the venue and address on the event organizer’s information. Do not assume that a listing for a Burien event means it is at Town Square Park or the Highline Performing Arts Center.
  2. Check current transit service for your trip to the venue and for the time you expect to leave. Routes, schedules, and service changes can affect the return, especially after an evening event.
  3. Choose your parking plan if you are driving. The Park & Ride garage is at the transit center; City Hall-area events also have municipal parking options, but their event-day availability and hours should be confirmed.
  4. Allow for the last part of the trip. Town Square Park and City Hall are a short walk from the transit center; a different venue may require another route or a separate parking plan.

It helps to make the decision in this order: identify the venue, find the closest useful stop or parking option, then check the return. A route that gets you into Burien may not be the one that gets you home after the show. Likewise, a garage listed near the transit center is not automatically the best choice for an event somewhere else in the city. Use the event’s official location as the starting point for every leg of the plan.

For a central outdoor event, consider that your walking route may be affected by event setup. For a theater or another venue, use that venue’s own directions rather than extrapolating from Town Square. If you are attending with someone who needs an accessible path, check the route between the actual stop, parking area and entrance, not just the distance on a map.

Which buses serve the Burien Transit Center?

The Burien Transit Center is the main interchange for central Burien. Metro’s current boarding information lists RapidRide F and H, routes 121, 131, 132, 161 and 166, DART 631, and Sound Transit route 560 there. A route’s presence at the center does not by itself establish that it is the right service for a particular venue or departure time; check the live trip information for the event date.

Service Destination or connection noted by Metro
RapidRide H Seattle; the City describes the line as connecting Burien, White Center, West Seattle, downtown Seattle and South Lake Union, with connections to other transit including Link light rail.
Routes 121, 131 and 132 Seattle
RapidRide F Renton Landing and Southcenter
Route 560 Westwood Village and Bellevue
Route 161 Kent Station
Route 166 Kent Des Moines Station
DART 631 Gregory Heights and Highline Medical Center

For a Seattle-to-Burien trip, RapidRide H is one relevant option, and Metro also lists 121, 131 and 132 as Seattle routes at the center. Which one works best depends on your starting point, time, transfers and destination. Check the current itinerary rather than relying on a route number alone.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Think of the transit center as a place to connect, not as a single bus route serving every concert venue. The route list gives you possible corridors: Seattle-bound service, connections toward Renton and Southcenter, and service toward Kent or nearby communities. Your best choice depends on where you start and where the event is. If a trip planner shows more than one itinerary, compare the number of transfers, the stop nearest the venue, and the time of the last leg on foot.

RapidRide H may be particularly useful for people coming from or heading toward Seattle because the City describes it as linking Burien with White Center, West Seattle, downtown Seattle and South Lake Union, as well as other transit including Link light rail. That broad connection does not mean every rider will have a direct trip: check the origin and destination in the trip planner and confirm any transfer. For other origins, the routes in the table may offer more relevant connections.

On the event date, verify both the inbound and outbound legs. Route names and destinations are useful for narrowing the options, but scheduled departures and service notices determine whether a specific trip works. A schedule that fits the concert start may not fit the end of the performance, and a transfer that works earlier in the day may not be available later. Avoid planning around a presumed final departure without checking the agency’s current information.

How do I walk from the transit center to Town Square Park?

For Town Square Park or a City Hall-area event, the City of Burien gives the transit-center-to-City-Hall distance as approximately 0.2 miles. Town Square Park is at 400 SW 152nd Street, next to the library and City Hall.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The City’s directions describe walking south on 4th Avenue SW from the transit center, then turning right toward SW 152nd Street. Treat that as a general orientation, not a guarantee of the best event-day route: barricades, street closures or vendor setups can change pedestrian access. Follow posted signs and event staff instructions if the usual path is blocked.

The transit center appears with two addresses in agency information: 14900 4th Ave SW in Metro’s parking directory and 209 SW 148th Street on the bus-bay boarding map. These are different reference points for the same transit-center property, not evidence of two separate stations. Use the boarding map for bus-bay orientation and the parking directory for the garage listing.

The 0.2-mile figure is a useful planning estimate for City Hall, not a promise that every entrance or event area is exactly that distance away. Town Square Park sits beside City Hall and the library, but the entrance being used, the event footprint and temporary barriers can affect the final approach. Follow the event’s signs if the usual sidewalk route has been redirected.

If you are meeting someone, agree on a recognizable point near the event rather than assuming that “the transit center” or “Town Square” describes one exact doorway or bus bay. The transit center has multiple services, while Town Square is a park next to civic buildings. Checking the boarding map and the event’s venue directions can help prevent confusion between the bus bays, parking entrance and destination.

Where can I park for a Burien concert?

For central Burien events, the practical choices are the Burien Park & Ride garage at the transit center and municipal parking near City Hall. The event organizer or City should confirm whether a specific lot is open, permitted, free, or available to concertgoers at the time of your event.

Choose based on where you are going, not just on which facility has a published capacity. For a Town Square or City Hall event, the municipal options may put you nearer to the destination, but event rules and access can vary. The Park & Ride garage is colocated with the bus interchange and can suit a park-and-ride plan; it is not a guarantee of a space or a special event lot. Check the conditions close to the show.

Burien Park & Ride garage

The garage is on the same property as the Burien Transit Center, making it a useful option if you plan to park and continue by bus or walk to a nearby downtown event. Agency capacity figures differ: King County Metro lists 488 spaces, while Sound Transit lists 504. Those are agency-reported capacity figures, not a live count of spaces available when you arrive; “about 500” is only a rough description.

Metro says its permit-parking program is suspended until further notice and that Metro park-and-rides may be used without charge on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to exceptions and current rules. Because parking terms can change, check Metro’s latest parking information before relying on this arrangement. Neither the listed capacity nor the general parking rule guarantees an open space on a concert night.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The two capacity figures should not be treated as an estimate of what will be empty when you arrive. They are published facility figures from separate agencies, and neither reports a live concert-night count here. If your plan depends on driving, leave room for the possibility that the garage is full or that current facility rules differ from the general description. Have a second plan, such as checking the City’s listed downtown lots, and confirm that the alternative is open and appropriate for your event.

“First-come, first-served” also means that a general parking policy is not a reservation. Metro’s notice about suspended permit parking and use without charge is subject to exceptions and current rules; check the current Metro page and posted signs rather than assuming that every space is available to every driver. This is especially important if you intend to leave a car for an extended period or overnight, because the general description does not establish the specific rule for those circumstances.

Municipal parking near City Hall and Town Square

The City lists underground parking access from 4th Avenue SW and above-ground access from SW 151st Street. It also lists another municipal lot at SW 150th Street and SW 151st Street, east of 8th Avenue SW. These locations may be convenient for a Town Square or City Hall event, but do not assume that any lot is free, open late, reserved for attendees, or unaffected by event restrictions. Confirm the applicable arrangements with the City or event organizer.

Before choosing one of these lots, establish which entrance fits your route and whether the event changes access. Underground access from 4th Avenue SW and above-ground access from SW 151st Street are distinct approaches; the additional lot is farther east, at SW 150th Street and SW 151st Street. The City’s location information does not by itself settle the event-day questions that matter to a concertgoer, including hours, fees, capacity, overnight rules or temporary closures.

If you are deciding between the garage and municipal parking, compare the whole trip. The garage gives you the option of making a transit connection at the same property, while municipal parking is listed near City Hall and Town Square. For a downtown event, either may be worth investigating, but neither should be described as guaranteed event parking. Use current instructions from the City or organizer and consider how you will get from the car to the event entrance if pedestrian access is redirected.

Can I park and ride to a Burien event?

Yes. The transit-center garage and bus interchange are on the same property, so you can park there and continue by transit or walk to a central event. The garage is first-come, first-served under Metro’s stated general rules, subject to current exceptions; availability is not shown by the capacity figures in the agency directories.

Park-and-ride makes the most sense when the venue is near the transit center or when a scheduled route gets you closer than parking at the venue. Compare the full trip: where the bus stops, how far you must walk, whether a transfer is needed, and whether service is scheduled after the concert ends. For a venue outside downtown, confirm its location and access independently rather than assuming the Town Square walk applies.

A useful way to test the plan is to map it as separate segments: drive to the garage, find a space, walk to the correct boarding area, ride to the stop that serves the venue, and cover the final walk. Then reverse those steps for the return and check the time of the scheduled service after the show. If you will simply walk from the transit center to Town Square, there is no bus leg to add; if you are using a bus for another venue, confirm the stop and walking connection at both ends.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not choose park-and-ride solely because it sounds more reliable than parking downtown. It can simplify the driving portion and offer access to multiple routes, but it still depends on space availability, the right bus service and a workable return schedule. For a group, decide in advance whether everyone is taking transit from the garage or whether the driver will drop off passengers elsewhere; the exact venue and any event-day traffic arrangements determine what is practical.

How do I plan the trip home after a concert?

Use the event’s expected end time and your destination to check a specific return itinerary on the day of the show. There is no reliable universal “last bus” time for Burien concerts: the useful service depends on the route, day of week, service changes, transfers, and when the performance actually lets out.

Before leaving, confirm:

  • the venue’s likely end time, including any event-specific schedule updates;
  • the departure time and direction of the route you intend to use;
  • any transfer and the time available to make it;
  • whether the route continues to your destination at that hour; and
  • the walking route from the venue to the stop, including any closures or accessibility needs.

Check Metro and Sound Transit trip information close to the event, then check again on the event date for service notices. If the schedule does not leave a practical return option, arrange another way home before the show rather than counting on a bus that may not be running.

Build in the time to leave the venue and reach your stop, not just the time the performance is expected to finish. For a central event, the approximate 0.2-mile walk applies to City Hall from the transit center, but the event entrance and any temporary closures can change the route you need to take. For a separate venue, check its own walking connection. If your itinerary includes a transfer, verify that the next service departs after you can reasonably reach it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Have a backup plan if the return itinerary is tight. That might mean arranging a ride in advance or choosing a parking option instead of depending on a late service, but do not assume that a particular alternative will be available without checking it. The important point is to make the decision before the show: a concert’s finish time can shift, and the appropriate route home is specific to the date, venue and destination.

What if the concert is not downtown?

Do not use the Town Square directions or the 0.2-mile distance as a stand-in for every Burien venue. The City identifies the 800-seat Highline Performing Arts Center as a major local arts venue, but the event title alone does not establish that a particular concert is there. Check the venue’s official address, parking directions, accessible entrances and event-day notices for the specific show.

For a venue-specific plan, compare the transit stop and walk with the venue’s own parking instructions. Confirm accessible parking and a step-free route with the venue or organizer, and check transit accessibility information with the relevant agency. Street closures and temporary event arrangements can change the approach even when the venue itself has not changed.

The Highline Performing Arts Center is one example of a local arts venue, not a default location for every concert. Burien’s events can also include park concerts, local theater, festivals and other arts programming. A citywide event listing does not tell you which entrance to use, whether a parking area is intended for attendees, or which stop gives you the shortest practical walk. Verify those details against the named venue’s official instructions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For an event at a different venue, follow a venue-first checklist: confirm the street address and entrance, identify the nearest useful stop, check the route and service time in both directions, and review the venue’s parking and accessibility instructions. Then consider closures or event arrangements that could alter the last block of the trip. The transit-center garage remains an option to investigate only if the transit connection and onward journey make sense for that address.

Accessibility needs deserve the same venue-specific check. A short distance on paper does not establish that a path is step-free or that an entrance is accessible. Confirm the route from parking or the stop to the exact entrance with the venue, and consult the relevant transit agency about service accessibility. If you need accessible parking, confirm its location and availability with the venue or City rather than inferring it from the existence of a municipal lot or garage.

Which option is best for my event?

  • Town Square Park or City Hall: The transit center plus the short walk is a straightforward option; the Park & Ride and City-listed downtown lots are alternatives if you drive.
  • A Seattle-area trip: Check RapidRide H and the Seattle-bound routes listed at the transit center against your starting point and return time.
  • A venue outside the downtown core: Verify the venue’s address, the nearest useful stop, parking instructions, and the return trip separately.
  • Driving with a transit connection: The Park & Ride garage is at the interchange, but capacity figures are not live availability and spaces are not guaranteed.
  • Accessibility is a priority: Confirm the step-free route, parking access and stop or station details for the exact venue and date rather than inferring them from the short downtown distance.

Use the comparison as a practical filter. The destination determines whether the short walk from the transit center is relevant; parking certainty depends on current availability and rules, not an advertised space count; and the return plan depends on scheduled service after the show. Accessibility also needs a route-level check, because a location’s general distance does not confirm the conditions of its path or entrance.

For a downtown Town Square or City Hall event, transit is an especially direct option to consider because the Burien Transit Center is nearby and provides several route choices. If you drive, the same-property garage can support a bus connection or a walk, and the City lists municipal parking options around City Hall. For another venue, do not rank the options until you have its official address, parking instructions and the transit route that serves it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The central planning anchor is the Burien Transit Center. For a downtown event, it offers multiple route choices, a same-property garage and a short walk to Town Square and City Hall; for any other venue, the exact event details should determine the plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do Burien Transit Center listings show two different addresses?

Metro’s parking directory uses 14900 4th Ave SW, while the bus-bay boarding map uses 209 SW 148th Street. They identify different reference points on the transit-center property, so use the listing that matches whether you are locating the garage or the bus bays.

Can I leave my car in the Burien Park & Ride overnight?

The cited Metro parking information describes general parking terms but does not establish an overnight rule for your event date. Check the current posted facility rules or ask Metro before leaving a car overnight.

How early should I arrive for a Burien concert?

There is no single arrival time that fits every venue or event. Check the organizer’s door and start times, then leave enough time for your chosen route, transfer, parking search and walk; ask the organizer about any event-specific entry or closure arrangements.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is parking at the Burien Transit Center free?

Metro says its park-and-rides may be used without charge on a first-come, first-served basis while its permit-parking program is suspended, subject to exceptions and current rules. Check Metro’s latest information and posted signs before relying on that policy; it does not guarantee a space.

How far is Town Square Park from the Burien bus station?

Town Square Park is at 400 SW 152nd Street beside the library and City Hall. The City gives the walk from the Burien Transit Center to City Hall as approximately 0.2 miles. Event barricades or vendor setups may affect the most convenient route.

What bus goes from Seattle to Burien for a concert?

RapidRide H connects Burien with Seattle destinations, and Metro also lists routes 121, 131 and 132 as Seattle routes at the Burien Transit Center. Check a trip itinerary for your exact starting point, event venue and date to compare routes, transfers and return service.

What is the best way home after a Burien concert?

It depends on the venue, event end time, day of week and destination. Check Metro and Sound Transit trip information close to the show and again on the event date, including transfers and the walk to the stop. Arrange another way home in advance if scheduled service does not fit.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

For central Burien concerts, start with the Burien Transit Center: it connects multiple routes, shares a property with the Park & Ride garage and is about 0.2 miles from City Hall and Town Square Park. Confirm your exact venue, current parking rules and the return schedule for the event date before you go.
