PokeDaisy is an Android Pokémon player that combines mGBA and melonDS emulation with a live companion interface. Instead of repeatedly pausing to inspect menus, you can keep your party, bag, map, Pokédex and battle information visible beside the game. It supports Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS titles, but it does not include games: you must provide your own legally dumped ROMs.
What makes PokeDaisy different from a normal Android emulator?
The emulator layer is familiar, but the companion is not. PokeDaisy reads the running game’s state and redraws useful information in a Pokémon-style interface. On a compatible title, the PARTY panel can show levels, HP, status, stats, moves, IVs, EVs, nature and Hidden Power. BAG mirrors item pockets, while BATTLE can display type effects, suggested switches and move recommendations during fights.

Which Pokémon games and ROM hacks work?
Any Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS game can be played through the underlying emulators. The richer companion requires an exact recognized game and ROM version, so ordinary playback and companion support are separate questions.

The official compatibility list covers Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver, alongside ROM hacks such as Unbound, Radical Red, Gaia, Emerald Seaglass and Emerald Rogue. The project describes the list as “45 games and counting.” Features are not uniform: some hacks have partial or unavailable map, battle or progression data.
Is PokeDaisy better on a dual-screen handheld or a phone?
Dual-screen hardware gives the companion a dedicated display, while single-screen devices and phones must share space between the game, companion and touch controls. Your best choice depends on whether uninterrupted game viewing or portability matters more.

Physical buttons and sticks suit the emulator, but touch controls remain available. Version 1.3.2, dated 24 October 2026, added upright-phone layouts, DS touch controls, a companion hotkey and additional fixes.
How do you install PokeDaisy without Google Play?
PokeDaisy is sideloaded from its GitHub release rather than installed through Google Play. The project says the app can update itself after installation, but you still need to obtain the APK from the official project page.

- Download the latest PokeDaisy APK from the project’s GitHub page.
- When Android prompts you, allow your browser or file manager to install unknown apps.
- Open PokeDaisy and link the folder containing your legally dumped ROMs.
- Select a separate save folder. Internal storage and SD-card folders are supported.
- Optionally add cover-art credentials if you want artwork in the library.
Cloud folders exposed through a file picker are not supported, so copy games and saves to internal storage or an SD card first. Android 8.0 or newer is required.
What emulator and quality-of-life features are included?
PokeDaisy uses mGBA for Game Boy-family software and melonDS for Nintendo DS. Smart fast-forward accelerates travel on roads, then returns to normal speed in menus and maps. FF MUSIC keeps the normal song tempo while fast-forwarding. You also get save states, ten documented save-state slots with screenshots and undo, remappable buttons, hotkeys, touch controls, LCD, scanline and CRT shaders, GBA color options and RetroAchievements support.

What are PokeDaisy’s limits?
- It is an Android player, not a ROM distribution service.
- Companion panels depend on the exact game and ROM-hack version being recognized.
- Unsupported versions may still run, but without complete party, map or battle data.
- Screen layouts and performance vary by handheld, especially on unverified hardware.
- The project is unofficial and states that it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures or The Pokémon Company.
Who should use PokeDaisy?
It is most compelling for players beginning a long Pokémon replay who want modern convenience without abandoning the original games. AYN Thor is the clearest showcase for the dual-screen concept; Retroid Pocket 6 is the safer single-screen choice because it is explicitly tested. Phones can work well when an upright stacked layout and touch controls are acceptable. If you only want a basic emulator and never consult maps, party data or battle information, PokeDaisy’s main advantage may not matter.

Does PokeDaisy include Pokémon ROMs?
No. The project explicitly says no games are included. Use ROMs dumped from games you legally own and keep them in local internal or SD-card storage.

Can PokeDaisy show battle advice on a second screen?
Yes, when the exact game version is recognized. The BATTLE panel can show matchup effects, suggested switches and move recommendations, while dual-screen hardware can keep that panel separate from gameplay.
Will an unlisted ROM hack still run?
It may play through the underlying emulator, but the companion will not necessarily identify its data. Expect missing or partial panels unless the exact version appears on the supported-games list.
What Android version does PokeDaisy require?
The project lists Android 8.0 or newer as the minimum. Device-specific controls, screen layouts and verification status still vary beyond that requirement.
