Choose PokeDaisy if Pokémon is the reason you want an emulator and you want live party, battle, map, Pokédex and guide information beside the game. Choose RetroArch if you want one highly configurable Android frontend for Pokémon and many other systems. Choose Pizza Boy A for focused Game Boy Advance play or Pizza Boy C for Game Boy Color when you prefer a conventional standalone emulator.
All three can be useful for Pokémon, but they solve different problems. PokeDaisy adds a Pokémon-aware companion to an mGBA-based player; RetroArch gives you core choice and extensive configuration; Pizza Boy keeps the experience simpler and platform-specific. Your ROM version, Android device and tolerance for setup matter more than a theoretical speed ranking—no independent performance benchmark or current price table is established for these products.

Quick verdict
| What you need | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Live Pokémon help while playing | PokeDaisy | Its companion reads supported games in real time and can show party, bag, battle, map, Pokédex, guide and trainer-card data. |
| One frontend for many consoles | RetroArch | You select separate emulator cores and control directories, input profiles and presentation settings from one interface. |
| Focused GBA emulator | Pizza Boy A | It is the Pizza Boy Android 32-bit handheld/GBA option, with skins, cheats, graphics customization and rumble. |
| Focused GBC emulator | Pizza Boy C | It targets Game Boy Color with the same conventional standalone approach. |
| Two-screen Pokémon setup | PokeDaisy on a compatible handheld | AYN Thor is marked Made for it, tested daily, while Retroid Pocket Duo Lite has a dedicated 4:3 bottom-screen layout. |
The short version is not that one emulator is universally fastest. PokeDaisy is the most distinctive Pokémon tool, RetroArch is the most flexible general-purpose tool, and Pizza Boy is the least complicated choice when you already know whether you need GBA or GBC.
What PokeDaisy adds for Pokémon players
A live companion instead of a second reference window
PokeDaisy describes itself as a Game Boy player built for Pokémon. Its companion interprets live game data and presents context while you play: current party information, bag contents, battle recommendations, map views, Pokédex entries, guide material and trainer-card details. That makes it useful for a player who wants help without repeatedly pausing to search a browser or switch apps.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
The companion is not a universal overlay that understands every Pokémon title automatically. It depends on the exact ROM and version being recognized. A game can therefore run normally while showing little or none of the companion data if its revision is not on PokeDaisy’s supported list.
Supported systems and exact-version coverage
The player itself runs Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance software. The companion support list is narrower and version-specific. The current catalog includes Pokémon Yellow, Crystal, Crystal Clear, Prism, FireRed, LeafGreen, Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire, along with many named ROM hacks. PokeDaisy’s page listed 36 games and counting on 19 October 2026; that number is a volatile catalog count, so check the current list before starting a new hack.
For a hack such as Pokémon Unbound or Radical Red, verify the precise release or patch version against PokeDaisy’s list. An unsupported hack may still boot and play because the underlying player handles Game Boy software, but you should expect to lose companion features rather than assume that every derivative of FireRed or Emerald is recognized.

PokeDaisy uses mGBA under the hood. Its player includes smart fast-forward, a fast-forward mode that keeps music at normal pitch, LCD and CRT shaders, a status bar, remappable buttons and hotkeys, touch controls, cheats and softcore RetroAchievements support. These are practical emulator features, not replacements for the companion: you can use PokeDaisy as a conventional player when a title is outside the companion database.
External-controller support is documented, and every control can be remapped. A Bluetooth Android gamepad is the sensible addition if virtual buttons obscure the screen or make precise movement uncomfortable. Touch input remains available for phone play, while hotkeys can make fast-forward, save-state and other frequent actions easier to reach.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
RetroArch: the configurable multi-system route
Why it suits broad libraries
RetroArch is a frontend rather than one fixed emulator. You choose a core for the system you want to run, then configure directories, controls, video presentation and other options. That breadth is its main advantage: a Pokémon player can keep Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance titles alongside games from many other consoles without maintaining a separate interface for each platform.
The same flexibility creates more decisions. You must identify an appropriate core, point RetroArch at your ROM and save directories, set an input profile and decide how shaders, scaling, aspect ratio and hotkeys should behave. RetroArch does not provide PokeDaisy’s Pokémon-aware party, map or battle companion, so its best use case is a player who values a unified, configurable library over turnkey Pokémon assistance.
Android installation and update path
Libretro’s Android guidance warns that the Google Play builds have not been updated for years and are not recommended. The official guidance points Android users toward current APK downloads, including stable or nightly and architecture-specific builds, or toward F-Droid for an easier update path. Side-loading means installing an APK obtained outside the official store; use the architecture that matches your device and obtain the package from the official RetroArch distribution channels.
- Choose the current stable or nightly Android build appropriate to your device architecture, or install the F-Droid version if you want that channel to manage updates.
- Allow Android to install the downloaded package when prompted, then open RetroArch and complete its initial storage permissions.
- Install or select the core that matches the Pokémon system you intend to play.
- Set your ROM, save and state directories, then create an input profile for touch controls or a connected gamepad.
- Load the game and adjust video scaling, shader and hotkey settings only after confirming that the core detects the ROM correctly.
If a Play Store installation appears old or lacks current cores, that is an update-channel problem rather than evidence that your Pokémon ROM is incompatible. Reinstall from the current official APK channel or move to F-Droid, then recheck core and directory settings.
Pizza Boy: straightforward GBA or GBC emulation
Pick the edition for your Pokémon system
Pizza Emulators presents Pizza Boy A as its Android 32-bit handheld emulator for Game Boy Advance and Pizza Boy C as its Game Boy Color emulator. The distinction matters: a GBC game belongs in Pizza Boy C, while FireRed, LeafGreen, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and other GBA titles belong in Pizza Boy A.

The official product descriptions emphasize customizable skins, cheats, graphics enhancement and original rumble feedback. Pizza Boy Double Slice is listed separately as a dual-screen Android emulator with touch support, save states and custom layouts and colors; it is not the same product choice as Pizza Boy A or C for a standard Pokémon GBA or GBC library.
What Pizza Boy does not promise
The retrieved Pizza Boy descriptions do not document a Pokémon-aware companion, an exact ROM-hack support database or device-specific Pokémon overlays comparable to PokeDaisy. That does not prevent Pokémon games or hacks from working, but it means you should judge Pizza Boy as a conventional emulator: load your legally obtained ROM, configure controls and use its standard save, cheat and graphics features.

Which emulator fits common Pokémon questions?
Which Android emulator is best for Pokémon?
PokeDaisy is the strongest answer when the game is the priority and you want contextual information during play. Its advantage is not a published speed benchmark; it is the companion and the Pokémon-focused interface. Use RetroArch instead when Pokémon is only one part of a larger multi-system library, and Pizza Boy when you want a focused GBA or GBC player with fewer frontend decisions.
Is PokeDaisy better than RetroArch for ROM hacks?
For a hack explicitly listed by PokeDaisy, yes, if live companion information is important. PokeDaisy can expose its Pokémon views while you play a supported hack. For an unlisted hack, RetroArch may be the more predictable general-purpose choice because you are not waiting for companion recognition; PokeDaisy can still run the software, but its extra data may be unavailable. Neither choice changes the requirement to use a ROM you are legally entitled to possess.
Should you use Pizza Boy or RetroArch for Pokémon GBA?
Choose Pizza Boy A when you want a dedicated GBA app with skins, cheats, graphics options and rumble. Choose RetroArch when the same Android installation also needs other consoles, multiple cores or deeply customized input and display profiles. PokeDaisy is the better alternative when the Pokémon companion is more valuable than a broad frontend.

What about Pokémon Unbound, Radical Red or Emerald hacks?
Check PokeDaisy’s exact supported-version list first. The name of a hack alone is not enough: patches, revisions and regional builds can differ. If the exact release is listed, companion features may be available; if it is not, test only with a legally created ROM and assume ordinary emulation without companion data. RetroArch and Pizza Boy do not publish the same Pokémon-specific companion coverage in the cited product information.
Device and screen-layout considerations
Phones
On an upright Android phone, PokeDaisy places the game above the companion. This keeps both views visible but reduces the game area compared with a single-screen emulator. A landscape orientation or external controller can make long sessions more comfortable, depending on your phone and preferred layout.
Dual-screen handhelds
PokeDaisy’s clearest hardware advantage is on dual-screen Android handhelds. AYN Thor is labeled Made for it, tested daily. Retroid Pocket Duo Lite has a dedicated 4:3 bottom-screen layout. Anbernic RG DS is marked Should work, and Retroid Pocket 6 one-screen mode is marked tested. These labels describe the project’s device guidance, not an independent battery, latency or frame-rate test.
If you specifically want the companion on a second display, choose a device from the project’s tested or explicitly supported guidance rather than assuming that any Android handheld will expose both screens correctly. On an ordinary phone, PokeDaisy remains usable, but the companion and game share one display.

PokeDaisy, RetroArch and Pizza Boy all approach presentation differently. PokeDaisy offers remapping, hotkeys, touch controls and LCD or CRT shaders with a status bar. RetroArch gives you the largest configuration surface, but each core and video setup adds choices. Pizza Boy concentrates on skins and graphics customization, which is easier to understand if you do not want a frontend-wide configuration system.

Apply even pressure for a few seconds to allow the suction cup to adhere properly. To maintain the grip and prevent accidental falls, it's a good practice to periodically reapply pressure to the suction cup.
For Pokémon, remapping is especially useful for fast-forward and menu navigation. Configure a physical controller before changing every in-game binding: Android may expose different button names for each Bluetooth pad. Keep one profile for touch and another for the controller so you can switch without losing the layout. Shaders are visual filters, not evidence of improved emulation accuracy; select the look that keeps text and battle sprites readable.
Save states, cheats and achievements
Use normal in-game saves as your foundation
Save states are convenient for testing a battle, route or difficult encounter, but they are separate from a Pokémon game’s own save file. Keep regular in-game saves and back them up before experimenting with a state, cheat or ROM patch. Moving a save between apps may require matching the filename and expected format, and a state created by one emulator should not be treated as portable.
Cheats
PokeDaisy includes cheats, and Pizza Boy’s product descriptions highlight them. RetroArch also exposes cheat functions through its frontend and core configuration. Cheats can corrupt progression or produce effects that remain after a code is disabled, especially in a long RPG. Make a clean in-game save first, apply one code at a time, verify the result, then disable it before continuing a normal playthrough.

Achievements
PokeDaisy supports softcore RetroAchievements. The word softcore matters: achievement rules and service requirements can differ from a standard offline save-state session. RetroArch can also be configured for achievement services, but availability depends on the selected core and account setup. Pizza Boy’s cited product information does not state an achievement feature.
ROM legality and ownership
PokeDaisy includes no games and instructs users to use their own legally dumped ROMs. It is not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures or The Pokémon Company. The same principle applies when using RetroArch or Pizza Boy: the emulator is software for running a game image, not a license to download copyrighted Pokémon ROMs or patched files from unauthorized sources.
Keep the original cartridge or legally acquired source, create your own dump where permitted, and retain an untouched backup before applying a hack patch. Do not distribute your ROM, save files containing copyrighted game data or patched images. Laws differ by country, so consult the rules that apply where you live.
A practical setup decision
- Identify the game system. Use Pizza Boy A or a matching GBA core for GBA games, Pizza Boy C or a matching GBC core for GBC games, and confirm that PokeDaisy’s companion list includes the exact version if you want live Pokémon data.
- Decide whether you need the companion. Choose PokeDaisy for party, map, battle, Pokédex and guide views; otherwise compare RetroArch’s breadth with Pizza Boy’s focused interface.
- Check your device layout. For a second-screen experience, consult PokeDaisy’s device notes; for a phone, plan whether the reduced game area in companion mode is acceptable.
- Install from the right channel. Avoid stale RetroArch Play builds; use the current official APK route or F-Droid. Keep each emulator updated through its current official distribution method.
- Set controls and storage before starting. Grant storage access, select ROM and save folders, pair and map a controller if needed, and create a backup of the first successful in-game save.
- Test the exact ROM. Load it without cheats, confirm that the save works, and only then enable shaders, fast-forward, achievement services or optional codes.
Final recommendation
PokeDaisy is the best Android Pokémon emulator for a Pokémon-first player who values information on the same screen as the game, especially on a supported dual-screen handheld. RetroArch is the better long-term platform for a mixed console library and for users willing to manage cores and configuration. Pizza Boy A and C are the sensible focused choices when you want straightforward GBA or GBC emulation without a Pokémon companion or a multi-system frontend.
