Glitz and Glam is a free, six-page Special Research quest in Pokémon GO that was released on May 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. local time. Completing it normally awards a Diancie encounter; Trainers who had already accessed the 2023 Pokémon GO Fest exclusive Special Research receive Diancie Candy instead. The quest was announced as non-expiring, but that announcement does not establish whether newly created accounts still receive it.
How to get the Glitz and Glam Special Research
Niantic announced Glitz and Glam as free Special Research available to all Trainers from May 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. local time. The announcement said it would not expire, so recipients could complete it at their own pace. Check the Special Research tab in your game to see whether it is available on your account. The 2024 announcement does not confirm whether accounts created after its original release receive the quest. Pokémon GO’s announcement gives the original availability details.
Glitz and Glam tasks and rewards
The quest has six pages. The objectives and listed rewards below are from Serebii’s Glitz and Glam task listing; they are not a first-hand gameplay report. Rewards include the listed encounters and items, along with XP unless otherwise noted.
| Page | Tasks | Notable rewards |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
|
Roggenrola and Nosepass encounters; Lure Module, Poké Balls, and Pinap Berries |
| 2 |
|
Spritzee, Sableye, and Swirlix encounters; Incense and Pinap Berries |
| 3 |
|
Carbink and Onix encounters; Lucky Egg, Poké Balls, and Pinap Berries |
| 4 |
|
Diancie encounter, or 25 Diancie Candy for eligible returning GO Fest research recipients; 2,000 Stardust and other items |
| 5 |
|
300 Diancie Mega Energy; Rare Candy and Golden Razz Berries |
| 6 | Claim the rewards for all three steps | 100 Diancie Mega Energy, 25 Diancie Stickers, and 2,000 Stardust |
Which Diancie reward will you receive?
The page-four reward depends on whether you previously accessed the Pokémon GO Fest 2023 exclusive Special Research. If you had not accessed that research, completing the page awards a Diancie encounter. If you had, the alternate reward is 25 Diancie Candy and 2,000 Stardust rather than the encounter. This condition is about access to the GO Fest research, not simply whether you attended an event in person, according to the official announcement and the page-four task listing.

Does Glitz and Glam expire?
The Special Research was announced as non-expiring, so Trainers who received it can work through its six pages without the original event deadline. A separate, temporary Field Research opportunity ran from May 1, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. through May 3, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. local time. During that window, spinning PokéStop Photo Discs could provide themed tasks awarding Diancie Mega Energy and Carbink encounters. That Field Research window is over; it was not the Glitz and Glam Special Research quest.
