Niantic announced the free research tracks as a way to encounter these Kanto Pokémon, which usually appear only in certain parts of the world. The schedule and broad rewards are in Niantic’s event announcement; Leek Duck’s event listing provides the task-by-task breakdown below. The Pokémon Company International also covered the featured encounters and schedule in its event announcement.
What each Timed Research track required
All four tracks began with catching 50 Pokémon. The following task details and individual rewards were recorded by Leek Duck; they are a secondary task listing, not a task table from Niantic’s announcement.

What the tracks rewarded
According to the detailed Leek Duck listing, each track offered the same reward categories and amounts: 5,000 XP, 25 each of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise Mega Energy, 10 Ultra Balls, and an encounter with that day’s featured Pokémon. Niantic’s official announcement described the broader rewards as XP, Stardust, Mega Energy, and encounters, but did not include this task-level breakdown.

Niantic warned: “The tasks associated with Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before the Timed Research ends.” Because each track lasted only 24 hours in local time, players had to finish its tasks and claim its rewards before that particular window closed. Those deadlines are long past, so these exact tracks are no longer available.
