If you’re asking what it takes to reach Level 46 in Pokémon GO now, you do not need the old Level 46 research checklist. The October 15, 2025 leveling update raised the Trainer level cap to 80, rebalanced XP, and removed Level-Up Research tasks for levels 41–50. The former checklist is useful only as a record of how progression worked before that update.
What are the current requirements for Level 46?
Level 46 is now part of the post-update progression to level 80. Pokémon GO’s current help guidance says Level-Up Research is required for levels 70–80, not for level 46. The Pokémon GO team’s October 2025 announcement put it plainly: “Tasks for Level-Up Research for levels 41 to 50 will be removed. Level-Up Research tasks will only be associated with levels 71 to 80.” Read the 2025 leveling update.

The official 2025 XP milestones list totals for levels 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80, but do not give a current Level 46 total. Check your Trainer Profile for your live XP and level progress rather than relying on an older threshold. The Pokémon GO Help Center’s leveling guidance explains the current progression mechanics.
What did Level 46 require before the 2025 update?
Under the former level 41–50 system, GameWith listed a Level 46 requirement of 15.5 million XP and four research tasks. These are historical requirements, not a current checklist:
#1 Best Overall
- The packaging is Japanese, but item works the same as the US version.
- Catch Pokémon and track your rest rhythm with the Pokémon GO Plus + accessory!
- Keep track of your sleep with the press of a button
- Press and hold the central button on the Pokémon GO Plus + accessory and place it by your pillow to track your rest rhythm on the Pokémon Sleep app
- There’s a Pikachu within your Pokémon GO Plus + that can sing you lullabies and act as your morning alarm; Pikachu grows friendlier the more you sleep, unlocking even more sounds!
- Complete 100 Field Research tasks.
- Take a Pokémon snapshot on seven consecutive days.
- Make 50 Excellent Throws.
- Hatch 30 Eggs.
The Pokémon GO team’s 2020 announcement described the old challenge in broader terms: “To reach level 46, you’ll need to complete a number of Field Research tasks, hatch a certain number of Eggs, and document your daily adventures using GO Snapshot!” It confirms those task themes, while the specific counts above come from the secondary GameWith Level 46 guide.
Field Research is not Level-Up Research
Field Research consists of tasks collected at PokéStops; the Help Center says you can collect one task per PokéStop per day and view tasks from the Binoculars/task screen. Level-Up Research is a separate progression mechanic. The old Level 46 Field Research requirement did not mean that the current level requires Level-Up Research. See the Field Research help article for task basics and the leveling help article for current level-up rules.

Why older Level 46 guides give different answers
Guides written for the former level 41–50 system may still show its task list and 15.5 million XP figure. Those details describe the pre-October 2025 progression, not the current requirements. The level-cap update changed both the XP curve and where Level-Up Research applies. For history, the official 2020 level-cap announcement describes the former challenges; for current progress, use your Trainer Profile and the current Help Center guidance.
