Level 47 is a historical milestone in Pokémon GO, not a current task gate. On October 15, 2025, the level cap rose from 50 to 80 and Level-Up Research for levels 41–50 was removed. The old Level 47 checklist is useful for understanding the former system, but you no longer need to complete it to progress under the current one.
What were the former Level 47 requirements?
In the former progression system, Level 47 required 18,000,000 total XP and completion of Level-Up Research tasks. GameWith’s historical task reference lists these objectives:

- Win 30 raids using teams made up of Pokémon of all unique species.
- Power up three Pokémon to their maximum level.
- Walk 25 km in a week using Adventure Sync, and complete that weekly objective twice.
The detailed checklist comes from GameWith, a secondary reference. Niantic’s 2020 announcement characterized Level 47 as a raid-focused challenge and said one challenge would require winning raids with teams meeting certain qualifications, but it did not enumerate the full list. It also distinguished Level 47 from Level 48, whose challenges focused on Buddy Pokémon. Read the official 2020 announcement.
Do you still need to complete Level 47 tasks?
No. Pokémon GO removed Level-Up Research for levels 41–50 in its October 15, 2025 progression update, so the former Level 47 objectives are no longer required. You can treat the checklist above as a record of the old system, not a set of tasks to pursue now. See Pokémon GO’s 2025 level-up update.

What happened to the weekly walking objective?
During the transition to the new progression system, Pokémon GO announced in August 2025 that the former objective would change from completing the 25 km weekly exploration task eight times to completing it twice. That was an interim adjustment, not the current Level 47 requirement: the later October update removed Level-Up Research for levels 41–50 altogether. Read the August 2025 transition announcement.
How does leveling work in the current system?
The cap is now Level 80. Pokémon GO’s published total XP milestones for the rebalanced system include:

| Level | Total XP milestone | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 40 | 3,953,000 XP | Current-system milestone |
| 50 | 12,753,000 XP | Current-system milestone |
| 80 | 203,353,000 XP | Current cap |
These are current-system milestones and should not be confused with the historical 18,000,000 XP threshold once associated with Level 47. The official Help Center says XP comes from gameplay actions such as catching Pokémon, visiting PokéStops, and battling. Excess XP carries forward; players can also accumulate XP beyond a level’s threshold while completing applicable Level-Up Research. Under the current system, specific Level-Up Research is required for levels 70 through 80. Check the Pokémon GO Help Center guidance on leveling up.

For your own progression, use the Level-Up Research display in the game and the official Help Center rather than an archived Level 47 checklist. Requirements depend on the current progression system, and the old level 41–50 research no longer applies.
