A win awards Mega Energy and a chance to catch the boss in its regular form—Latios or Latias. The latest confirmed appearance found was a past event, so neither is confirmed as currently available.
What happens when you win a Mega Latios or Mega Latias raid?
Winning awards Mega Energy and an opportunity to catch the Raid Boss. The Energy amount depends on the post-battle Speed stat, which reflects how quickly your group defeated the boss; a faster win can mean more Energy. After the battle, the Mega Pokémon returns to its regular form for the catch encounter: Latios or Latias.
For the general Mega Evolution system, see The Pokémon Company’s Mega Evolution guide. Niantic’s explanation of the raid reward and encounter mechanics is in its Mega Raid Battles help page.
How should you prepare for the fight?
Bring a capable team and coordinate
Niantic characterizes Mega Legendary Raids as more difficult than a standard Raid Battle or an ordinary Mega Raid. Its guidance is to Mega Evolve a Pokémon in your party, invite friends, or do both. The official guidance cited here does not specify a guaranteed minimum group size, so plan with friends rather than relying on a fixed player-count promise.

Choose Pokémon and attacks thoughtfully
The Pokémon Company’s raid tips note that Mega Latios and Mega Latias have high stats and use Dragon- and Dark-type moves. Build a strong team with suitable attacks, but do not treat this broad advice as a ranked counter list: the cited official guidance does not establish a current ranking or exact team recommendation for either boss.

The same event page described GO Pass Deluxe: Mega Finale rewards, including extra Mega Raid Candy, Candy XL, XP, and additional Mega Energy for a chosen partner.
