Pokémon GO became officially available to download in Brazil on August 3, 2016, for Android phones and iPhone. A Brazilian report published that day said players could get it through Google Play and the App Store. That was nearly a month after Niantic began its initial official rollout in Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
When did Pokémon GO launch in Brazil?
Pokémon GO launched officially in Brazil on August 3, 2016. The contemporaneous report from Pequenas Empresas Grandes Negócios, published that date, said Brazilians could download the game “a partir de hoje” (starting today).
Was it available for Android and iPhone?
Yes. The August 3 report identified Android phones and iPhone (iOS), with downloads through Google Play and Apple’s App Store. These were the launch platforms named in the Brazilian report; they should not be read as a guarantee that every current device is compatible.
How did Brazil fit into the worldwide rollout?
Niantic’s initial announcement, dated July 6, 2016, named Australia, New Zealand and the United States as the first official app-store markets, with releases in other countries expected in the following days. Brazil’s August 3 launch followed that first wave. The Brazilian report said the release met Niantic’s promised pre-Olympics timing, two days before the Rio 2016 opening; that timing detail was reported by the Brazilian publication.
