The 2024 Pokémon Go Spiritomb Challenge had five simultaneous Timed Research tasks: catch 108 Ghost- or Dark-type Pokémon, make 108 Nice Throws, make 108 Curveball Throws, collect 1,080 Max Particles, and use 108 Berries to help catch Pokémon. Each task awarded a Pokémon encounter; completing all five awarded a Spiritomb encounter, 1,080 Stardust, and 1,080 XP. The research expired on November 3, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time, so it is no longer available.
Spiritomb Challenge 2024 tasks and individual rewards
The free challenge appeared as one page of Timed Research with five objectives active at the same time. The task-and-reward list below is reported by Leek Duck and corroborated by Nintendo Wire.

The task encounters were not guaranteed to be Shiny. The cited event guides note possible Shiny availability for some encounter species, but do not claim the challenge guaranteed a Shiny Spiritomb.
When the 2024 research was available
The research ran from October 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. through November 3, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time, spanning both Halloween event parts. Pokémon GO described the theme in its Part I announcement: “Timed Research focused on Spiritomb and its 108 spirits will be available throughout the event!” The event dates and Spiritomb focus are also covered in the Part II announcement.

Because this was Timed Research, the tasks and rewards had to be completed and claimed before the November 3 expiry. The official announcements confirm the research’s availability and theme; the exact task wording and individual encounter rewards are published in the event guides linked above.
