Pokémon GO Update Adds a Warning Before Transferring Perfect Pokémon

Pokémon GO's October 8, 2026 update adds a confirmation prompt before transferring maxed-stat Pokémon, with a count in bulk transfers. It is narrow, it cannot undo a transfer, and favoriting remains the stronger lock.

Pokémon GO’s October 8, 2026 gameplay update adds a confirmation prompt before you transfer a Pokémon with maxed-out stats, the ones players call “perfect” or “hundo.” The prompt is narrow: it triggers on that stat condition, not on every Pokémon you care about. Here is exactly what it covers, how it differs from favoriting, and what it cannot do.

What the new prompt triggers on

The official announcement, dated October 8, 2026, says trainers “will now receive a confirmation prompt before transferring any Pokémon that has maxed-out stats.” In player shorthand, that means 100% IV Pokémon, shown in the game with a ★ 100% marker. The condition is the stat check, not rarity, shiny status, CP, level, or sentimental value. A high-level Pokémon with a 97% IV rating, or a shiny you caught years ago, is not covered by this specific warning unless the game’s max-stat condition applies to it.

Because the trigger is narrow, the prompt should be read as one safeguard among several rather than a general “are you sure?” for everything valuable in your Pokémon box.

How bulk transfers are handled

When you select several Pokémon for transfer at once, the confirmation also displays the exact count of ★ 100% Pokémon in that selection. The announcement describes this count as shown “during bulk transfers,” so the number reflects only perfect-stat Pokémon among the group you selected. Read the count before confirming: if you expected zero and see three, you have three perfect Pokémon in the batch you are about to send away.

The prompt compared with favoriting

The update adds a warning. Favoriting is a lock that already exists. The two work differently, and the table below separates them by function.

Safeguard What sets it off What happens when you try to transfer Reversibility after transfer
New maxed-stat confirmation prompt (October 8, 2026 update) The Pokémon has maxed-out stats (★ 100%) You receive a confirmation prompt; in bulk transfers it shows the count of perfect Pokémon selected Not recoverable. The Help Center states transferred Pokémon cannot be returned, and the prompt does not change that.
Favorite status (existing feature) You mark the Pokémon by tapping the star on its profile A favorited Pokémon cannot be transferred, per the Help Center Not applicable while the Pokémon stays favorited; the lock prevents the transfer from happening

The practical difference is control. The new prompt depends on the game recognizing the stat condition and asking you to confirm. Favoriting depends on you marking a specific Pokémon. A Pokémon you favorite is protected regardless of its stats, and a perfect Pokémon you have not favorited still gets the prompt but nothing else stops it.

  • Spin PokéStops or throw Poké Balls automatically in Pokémon GO for hands-free gameplay (and Great Balls and Ultra Balls can be thrown too!)

What the update does not do

  • It does not claim to protect every Pokémon a player considers “best.”
  • It does not eliminate accidental transfers. A confirmation can still be tapped through.
  • It cannot restore a Pokémon after transfer. Transfers are irreversible under the Help Center guidance.
  • No accidental-transfer statistics were published with the announcement, so the update’s real-world impact on losses is not yet measurable from official material.

A simple routine for keeping perfect Pokémon safe

  1. Before any bulk transfer, open the selection and check the ★ 100% count shown in the confirmation.
  2. Favorite any perfect Pokémon you intend to keep. Open its profile and tap the star.
  3. Favorite other Pokémon you would hate to lose, such as shinies, event catches, or Pokémon with a specific move set, because the new prompt does not cover them.
  4. Read each confirmation before tapping through, especially on a multi-select transfer.

Favoriting and the prompt work together. The prompt catches the transfer you did not intend for a perfect Pokémon. The star catches the Pokémon you have already decided to keep.

Where to confirm availability

The October 8, 2026 announcement describes the prompt as a new feature. Rollout timing can vary by platform and region, so check whether you see the prompt the first time you transfer a perfect Pokémon. If you do not, the update may not have reached your device yet.
