What are the Hoenn starters?
Treecko (#252), Torchic (#255), and Mudkip (#258) are the three Pokémon presented as starter choices for a new Trainer. Their species numbers identify them in the official Pokédex; they are not performance scores. The Pokémon Company’s Pokédex lists all three.

How should you choose?
Choose the type you want to use
- Treecko: pick it if Grass is the type you most want as your first partner.
- Torchic: pick it if you want to begin with a Fire-type Pokémon.
- Mudkip: pick it if Water is your preferred starting type.
If none of those preferences stands out, choose the Pokémon you find most appealing. That is a preference-based tie-breaker, not a claim that one starter is objectively strongest or easiest.

Choose for the specific game, not a general ranking
Hoenn game mechanics and the surrounding adventure matter to strategy. The official Ruby and Sapphire overview highlights double battles and explains that Abilities and Natures affect battle performance. Those factors are reasons to consider the game you are actually playing, but the overview does not establish a starter ranking.
The available official comparisons here do not provide a quantitative ranking of base stats, move coverage, Gym difficulty, or overall campaign ease. Without evidence tied to a specific version and goal, claims that one starter is universally easiest or strongest go beyond what these sources establish.

If you mean collectible cards rather than choosing a game partner, Pokémon’s historical Pokémon TCG: Hoenn Collection launched on November 14, 2014. Its listed contents included special foil cards featuring Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip, a pin with the trio, three booster packs, and a bonus code card. The product page documents that release; it does not establish current stock or availability.
