It confirms how HOME transfers work in general, but it does not provide a Z-A compatibility table, a Z-A-specific transfer menu, or proof that transfers between Z-A and HOME are unrestricted or two-way. Treat any claim that every Pokémon can freely move between Z-A and HOME as unverified unless Pokémon Support publishes the relevant rules.
What is confirmed about Z-A and Pokémon HOME?
As of 2026, the official Pokémon HOME support index does not include a verified transfer table or dedicated instructions for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The available documentation confirms HOME’s general interface and transfer behavior, but it does not establish which Pokémon can enter or leave Z-A.

That means three common claims should not be treated as confirmed facts:
- That every Pokémon can move freely between Z-A and HOME.
- That transfers are automatically available in both directions.
- That eligibility depends only on a Pokémon’s species.
HOME can restrict a Pokémon based on its origin game as well as its species. The official Nincada example shows that even the same species can have different destination options depending on where it came from.
#1 Best Overall
- Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
For the latest official information, check the Pokémon HOME support index rather than relying on a generic compatibility assumption.
How Pokémon HOME transfers work on Nintendo Switch
The confirmed Nintendo Switch process is:
- Launch Pokémon HOME.
- Select Pokémon from the main menu.
- Select the game and the user’s save data.
- Select a Pokémon and choose its destination Box.
- Pokémon that cannot be moved display an incompatibility icon.
- Press + when finished.
- Choose to save the changes, or press B to return to the Boxes without saving.
This is the documented general HOME workflow. It should not be read as confirmation that a particular Pokémon or transfer direction is supported by Z-A.
There is no command-line syntax or text command for HOME transfers. Transfers are performed through the Nintendo Switch or mobile-app menus. Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required for the general HOME connection process.

How to check whether a Pokémon can enter a game
On Nintendo Switch
- Select the Pokémon in HOME.
- Choose Check Summary.
- Press +.
- Select Connected Games.
The compatible games are listed there. If Z-A appears as unavailable for that Pokémon, HOME’s indication is the practical confirmation that the Pokémon cannot be used in that destination at that time.
On mobile
- Select the Pokémon.
- Scroll to Games it can travel to.
- Check the game icons.
A grayed-out game image means the Pokémon cannot be used in that game. These checks are more reliable than assuming that a Pokémon’s species alone determines compatibility.
The official instructions are available in Pokémon Support’s compatibility guide.

Transfer eligibility can depend on the game in which a Pokémon originated. Pokémon Support documents these Nincada cases:
Rank #2
- Venture into Hyperspace Lumiose in this additional story content that can be accessed after completing the main game
- Work with the mysterious baker, Ansha, to make donuts that awaken the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa’s power and grant you and your Pokémon a variety of useful effects
- Join Team MZ and the Mega Evolution Successor, Korrina, to investigate Hyperspace Lumiose, the otherworldly home to rare and hyper-strong Pokémon
- Discover new Mega Evolutions such as Mega Raichu X, Mega Raichu Y, Mega Chimecho and Mega Baxcalibur
- Claim Holo-X and Holo-Y in-game apparel items, which you can wear as soon as you are able to customize your character’s look and outfit in the main game
- A Nincada from Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl can return only to those games.
- A Nincada from Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield can return only to those games.
- A Nincada transferred from Pokémon Bank or Pokémon GO can be deposited only into Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield.
This demonstrates why a Z-A transfer decision cannot safely be made from the species name alone. HOME may consider the Pokémon’s origin, its data, and what the destination game supports. The documented example is explained in Pokémon Support’s Nincada article.
Will HOME change a Pokémon’s moves or stats?
HOME can display a Pokémon’s information differently depending on the connected game. On Nintendo Switch, the displayed information reflects what would apply if the Pokémon were deposited into that game. If the Pokémon is unavailable in the connected title, detailed moves and status information may not appear.
Documented examples of information that can look different include:
- Moves
- Poké Ball information
- The Alpha Pokémon mark from Pokémon Legends: Arceus
- Game-specific effort levels
- Super Contest Condition
- Judge information
These are display differences, not evidence that HOME has overwritten the Pokémon’s underlying data. Pokémon Support explicitly says HOME does not overwrite that data. Details are available in the official explanations of move displays and Pokémon information displays.
On mobile, displayed information reflects the last game title in which the Pokémon was present. Pokémon transferred from Pokémon GO or Pokémon Bank are displayed as though they were associated with Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield.
Account and console requirements
The relevant game save data must be on the same console where Pokémon HOME is launched. Having a game installed on another console is not enough. This is especially important when using both a Nintendo Switch and a Nintendo Switch 2.
If HOME no longer shows a game after moving to Nintendo Switch 2, the documented fix is to transfer the relevant save data and use the same Nintendo Account on both consoles.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhen a user account is moved from Nintendo Switch to Nintendo Switch 2, that user’s existing HOME Premium Plan carries over. A Nintendo Switch 2 local-communication transfer does not reset the original Nintendo Switch. The older server-upload transfer method does reset the original console, according to Pokémon Support.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Using the mobile and Switch versions of HOME
The mobile and Nintendo Switch versions share the same HOME Boxes only when both are linked to the same Nintendo Account.
To check the account linked to the mobile app, open Options and select Account. If the mobile app was initially started without the correct Nintendo Account, it cannot later be linked to that intended account. Pokémon Support also warns that HOME data, Pokémon, and progress cannot be moved to a new device if HOME was not linked to a Nintendo Account on the old device; a lost guest account cannot be recovered.

Use the official HOME account setup instructions before beginning.
Current iPhone and iPad support
Pokémon HOME’s current officially supported mobile version is iOS 16 and later. HOME may still run on iOS 15, but iOS 15 is no longer supported. The announced compatibility change makes HOME unusable on iOS 14.
If the mobile app is not working, check the device’s iOS version before troubleshooting the account or the Pokémon itself. The current platform information is listed in Pokémon Support’s compatibility notice.
What to do when a transfer is blocked
- Check the destination list. Use Check Summary → + → Connected Games on Switch, or Games it can travel to on mobile.
- Check for the incompatibility indicator. A blocked Pokémon cannot be forced into the destination through a text command or alternate transfer syntax.
- Consider its origin game. The same species may have different destinations depending on whether it came from a main-series game, Pokémon Bank, or Pokémon GO.
- Verify the console and save data. Confirm that the relevant save is on the same console where HOME is running.
- Do not treat changed displays as data loss. Moves, marks, effort levels, and other details may be shown differently without HOME overwriting the Pokémon.
- Check official Z-A documentation. If the destination is Z-A and HOME does not list it as compatible, there is currently no verified basis for assuming that the transfer should work.
Do not use altered Pokémon
Pokémon Support warns that unauthorized or altered data can lead to restrictions on mobile trading, suspension of both HOME versions, and restrictions on online play in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Restrictions may be temporary or indefinite, and refunds are not provided. Use legitimate Pokémon and avoid services or methods that claim to bypass HOME’s compatibility checks.
See Pokémon Support’s notice on altered data.
Bottom line for Z-A players
Pokémon HOME’s menus let you check a Pokémon’s currently supported destinations, and HOME clearly blocks transfers that are incompatible. However, the official material available for this 2026 explanation does not verify Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s specific transfer rules. Use HOME’s own compatibility indicators and wait for a Z-A-specific Pokémon Support announcement before assuming that transfers are available, reversible, or unrestricted.
