Pokémon Pokopia launched for Nintendo Switch 2 on 5 March 2026. It is a slow-paced life simulation about restoring a desolate world as a Ditto that looks like a human, gathering materials, crafting, and building habitats for Pokémon.

What is Pokémon Pokopia?

Pokémon Pokopia is a life-simulation game focused on rebuilding and welcoming Pokémon into a world that has fallen into desolation. You play as Ditto transformed to look like a human. Nintendo describes the experience as crafting, creating, and building; the game’s time follows the real world, including its day-and-night cycle and weather.

Nintendo calls it the first slow-paced life simulation game in the Pokémon franchise. It was planned and co-developed by The Pokémon Company, GAME FREAK inc., and KOEI TECMO GAMES CO., LTD. (Nintendo, 12 March 2026.)

Release date, platform, and formats

The game is available for Nintendo Switch 2, with package and download versions listed by Nintendo. Check the listing for your territory and preferred format before buying: availability and listing details can vary by country. Nintendo UK lists a 6.8 GB download size and PEGI 3 rating; those are UK listing details, not universal specifications. (Nintendo UK; Nintendo Singapore.)

How multiplayer works

Nintendo lists local wireless play for 2–4 players and online play for 1–4. Multiplayer requires other games and systems, and online features require an internet connection, a Nintendo Account, and a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo notes that availability varies by country. Players joining one another must also use the same software version. (Nintendo Singapore; Nintendo Support.)

Expansion Pass: released and planned content

Pokémon Pokopia has a paid three-part Expansion Pass sold through Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Store. Its first part, Bubbly Basin, was released in August 2026. Nintendo lists 4 August, while The Pokémon Company’s 14 August announcement gives 5 August; the official sources differ by one day, so the month is the consistent date.
