Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks launched on November 8, 2024. The Pokémon Company International’s October 9 reveal highlighted Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, ACE SPEC cards and a mix of striking illustrations and card effects—but it did not publish a complete card checklist in that article.
When did Surging Sparks come out?
The expansion was released on November 8, 2024, as part of the Scarlet & Violet series. Pokémon’s reveal article was published October 9, 2024; its references to cards “arriving” described that upcoming release at the time, not a future launch now. Pokémon’s October 9, 2024 reveal also said select retailers would begin selling Build & Battle Boxes on October 26, ahead of the main release.
How many cards are in the expansion?
Pokémon’s reveal uses two different figures: it describes “over 190 new” cards, while the page’s product details state “Number of Cards: Over 250.” The page does not explain the difference in counting basis, so neither figure should be treated as an exact total. The reveal is a preview, not a full checklist.
What did the reveal feature?
The official overview framed the set around Stellar Tera Pokémon ex and called out Archaludon ex, Latias ex and ACE SPEC cards. It also linked the expansion’s theme to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk. The official Surging Sparks overview provides that broader set context.

#1 Best Overall
- Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks Booster Display Box contains 36 Booster Packs from the new Surging Sparks expansion.
- The Surging Sparks expansion contains over 250 cards including more than a dozen Pokemon ex for you to collect.
- The new expansion also contains more than 20 Trainer Cards, New ACE SPEC cards, and 50+ Pokémon and Trainer cards with special illustrations for you to collect
Cards highlighted for their illustrations
The reveal showcased Magneton, Exeggcute and Lisia’s Appeal alongside the headline Pokémon. These examples show that the preview was not limited to Pokémon ex: it also included a Pokémon illustration and a Trainer card. They are representative highlights, not a complete list of the expansion’s cards.
Technical Machine: Fluorite’s effect
One featured card was Technical Machine: Fluorite. Pokémon’s reveal describes its attack as requiring Grass, Water and Psychic Energy and healing all damage from each of your Tera Pokémon; its stated cost is discarding all Energy. That effect makes the card a concrete example of the set’s mechanics, rather than just its visual range.
Rank #2
- More than 250 cards
- More than ten new Pokémon ex
- More new ACE SPEC cards
- More than 50 Pokémon and Trainer cards with special illustrations
What products and early events were announced?
Pokémon’s official product gallery lists a Surging Sparks Elite Trainer Box and confirms that it includes a code card for Pokémon Trading Card Game Live. The listing does not establish current price or stock, and it is not a current inventory check. See the official Elite Trainer Box listing.
The October 26 Build & Battle Box date was a historical early-selling date at select retailers, not a current event listing. For someone looking for a particular card now, sealed products and buying that card as a single are different routes: opening sealed packs does not guarantee a named card, and the cited product information does not establish present availability or pull odds.
