Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Players Share Ways to Solo Mighty Infernape Tera Raids

The Rock-Tera Mighty Infernape raid ran March 20–26, 2026. Players reported solo attempts with Conkeldurr, Kommo-o, and Koraidon, while a separate Kommo-o strategy required a coordinated four-player team.

The Rock-Tera Mighty Infernape 7-star raid in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet ran March 20–26, 2026, and is no longer active. Players reported solo approaches using Conkeldurr, Kommo-o, and Koraidon, but the available reports do not establish a guaranteed or universally best build. The strategies may be useful if the encounter returns; Pokémon has said Infernape may feature in a future event or become obtainable another way, without announcing a date.

What the Mighty Infernape raid used

The event featured a level 100 Infernape with the Rock Tera type, Iron Fist, and the Mightiest Mark. Its regular attacks were Flare Blitz, Aura Sphere, Tera Blast, and Grass Knot. The raid script also gave it Nasty Plot, Swords Dance, and Focus Energy at set points in the battle. Serebii’s event data lists a 35× HP multiplier and shield damage of 20% for standard attacks, 30% for Tera attacks, and 70% for attacks matching the user’s Tera type.

The encounter’s Rock Tera type matters: do not choose a counter based only on Infernape’s usual Fire/Fighting typing. Its attacks also deal mixed physical and special damage, and its scripted boosts can increase both offensive stats. A solo build therefore needs a way to stay alive and recover, not just a strong super-effective attack.

Raid timing that affects setup

According to the event script listed by Serebii, Infernape drains players’ Tera Orb charge at 95% remaining time, resets player stats and status at 90%, and resets its own stats and status at 80%. It uses Nasty Plot at 79% remaining time, Swords Dance at half HP, and Focus Energy at 35% remaining time. The shield activates when Infernape has 80% of its HP remaining or when 80% of the time remains. These interruptions can erase setup or delay a plan that depends on Terastallizing early.

Reported solo builds: what players tried

The following are community reports, not controlled tests or guaranteed clears. Their outcomes can depend on damage rolls, execution, and NPC allies. The reports do not provide comparable success rates, so they cannot support a reliable ranking by win rate.

Pokémon Reported approach What to keep in mind
Conkeldurr One player reported 252 HP / 252 Attack / 6 Special Defense EVs, Shell Bell, Fighting Tera, and Focus Energy, Bulk Up, Drain Punch, and Leer. The described opening uses Focus Energy and Leer while Infernape drains Tera charge; the player then uses Bulk Up after Infernape’s reset if a safe turn is available, before leaning on Drain Punch for damage and recovery. The player cited critical-hit luck and an Intimidate NPC ally as helpful. They also cautioned that Aura Sphere can critically hit and threaten a physically invested build.
Kommo-o A commenter said Iron Defense and Body Press made the raid comparatively easy; another reported a solo clear but did not give a complete, independently validated build. The available solo comments do not establish a full moveset, item, or training spread that readers can reproduce with confidence.
Koraidon One player reported using Metronome and attacking with Flare Blitz until able to Terastallize, then switching to Drain Punch. This is an individual account, not a confirmed optimal or generally reliable setup.

The accounts above come from player discussion of the encounter; their caveats and builds are available in the Infernape 7-star player reports.

How to assess a solo attempt

  • Plan for both kinds of damage. Flare Blitz and Swords Dance create physical pressure, while Aura Sphere and Nasty Plot create special pressure. A defense investment aimed at only one side can leave a serious weakness.
  • Include recovery. Conkeldurr’s reported Drain Punch and Shell Bell support staying power, but the other player accounts do not document equally complete recovery plans.
  • Account for the opening charge drain. The event script reduces Tera Orb charge early, so a strategy that relies on quickly Terastallizing may need to survive and build charge first.
  • Expect resets. Player stat and status resets can remove setup, while Infernape’s reset can change the value of turns spent debuffing it. Timing matters alongside the selected Pokémon.
  • Treat ally behavior and luck as variables. An NPC ally’s ability or a favorable critical hit can influence a reported clear; neither is a dependable guarantee.

“Rock All Night” is a coordinated multiplayer plan

A separate community FAQ describes “Rock All Night,” a four-player strategy centered on a level 100 Kommo-o with Bulletproof, Adamant nature, and HP/Attack EV investment. The FAQ says Bulletproof blocks Aura Sphere. The plan pairs Kommo-o with a Friend Guard Jigglypuff or Clefairy and an Umbreon assigned to Screech. The FAQ says Friend Guard reduces damage allies take by 25%; this is a role-based team plan, not a solo build, and its specified training and execution matter.

Pokémon Scarlet/Pokémon Violet Expansion Pass: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero (Retail Version) Standard - Nintendo Switch [Digital Code]
  • Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
  • The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.

For the plan, the FAQ recommends Covert Cloak on Kommo-o to avoid a Flare Blitz burn, Eviolite for the unevolved support Pokémon, and Zoom Lens on Umbreon to improve Screech accuracy when Umbreon acts after the boss. It lists Drizzle as a possible alternative to Friend Guard support and says another Screecher that can survive critical hits and burn damage can substitute for Umbreon. These are in-game items and team options, not required physical purchases. See the Rock All Night community FAQ for its role details.

Event availability and catching Infernape

Pokémon’s official event announcement identifies the encounter as a 7-star raid and says the special Infernape can be caught only once per save data. Players who caught it in an earlier event can still participate for other rewards. The announcement says event raids require downloading the latest Poké Portal News and that players who have not completed the relevant postgame unlock can join another trainer’s multiplayer raid.

The same notice says the Infernape may be featured in future events or become obtainable through other methods, but does not promise a rerun or provide a future date. The March 2026 event dates have passed.
