The right setting depends on which Pokémon game and device you use. For Pokémon Sleep, Pokémon Support recommends Reduced graphics and 30 FPS when the app is slow or laggy; it does not quantify any battery savings. On Nintendo Switch, Auto-Sleep can help prevent the console from staying on when you walk away, but it does not improve performance during play. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet received a frame-rate improvement in version 4.0.0 when played on Nintendo Switch 2—not through a general in-game graphics toggle.
Pokémon Sleep: lower graphics and set 30 FPS if the app lags
Pokémon Support recommends two settings for slow or laggy behavior. Open Main Menu > Settings and More > General Settings > Other, then set Graphic Quality to Reduced and FPS to 30. The recommendation is for performance troubleshooting, not a measured battery-saving mode. Pokémon Support publishes no battery-life figure for these changes.

Reduced graphics may mean less visual detail, while the 30 FPS option sets the app’s frame-rate setting. The official guidance does not state how much smoother the app will run on a particular phone or how long either change might extend battery life. Results can depend on the device and its condition.
Pokémon Support’s performance troubleshooting instructions, updated January 30, 2026, give the specific recommendation: “Change Graphic Quality to Reduced and set the FPS to 30.”

Nintendo Switch: use Auto-Sleep to avoid leaving the console on
On Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, or Switch OLED, go to System Settings > Sleep Mode and configure Auto-Sleep. For use on the console screen, Nintendo lists inactivity intervals of 1, 3, 5, 10, or 30 minutes. Choosing a shorter interval can limit how long the system remains awake after you stop interacting with it.
This is an inactivity setting, not a performance adjustment. It will not make a Pokémon game run faster or improve its frame rate while you are actively playing. The available intervals are listed in Nintendo’s instructions for adjusting Switch Sleep Mode settings.

Scarlet and Violet: the documented frame-rate change is for Switch 2
Nintendo’s update history lists version 4.0.0, released June 2, 2025, as optimizing visuals and improving frame rate when Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are played on Nintendo Switch 2. The Pokémon Company announced the version 4.0.0 changes on June 3, 2025.
This is an update-related improvement in the Switch 2 context, not an in-game setting to enable on every console. The cited official information does not establish an equivalent graphics or FPS menu for the original Nintendo Switch. See Nintendo’s update history for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet and The Pokémon Company’s version 4.0.0 announcement.

Does Pokémon GO Plus + improve battery life?
Pokémon GO Plus + is an optional accessory that can pair with Pokémon Sleep for sleep tracking. Pokémon Support says it can be used alongside a smartwatch, with users choosing which source’s sleep data to import. That guidance does not describe the accessory as a fix for app lag or phone battery drain, nor does it claim that it extends phone battery life. Its role is sleep-data tracking, not performance troubleshooting. See Pokémon Support’s guidance on using Pokémon GO Plus + with Pokémon Sleep.
